    youtube MACNA atlanta

This was my first year going to MACNA in Atlantic City. Loved every minute of it. Next year in Orlando I think it will be even greater. What's really neat is that the Marriott where it is going to be held is offering rooms at $99 a night and they also allow you to book the complete week (Tues...

    coral

Bridal veil works real well when attaching softies. Cover the softy with some bridal veil and secure it with a rubber band. Depending on what the softy is, you can usually remove it after about 2-3 weeks. You can get bridal veil at any fabric store for about $2 a yard.

    painting a tank?

I used appliance paint on my old 75 and it worked great. Most all Home Depots or Lowes have appliance paint.

pleas help is this the correct pump?

A real quick answer to your questions would be STOP! Before buying anything more, do some detailed research on what you wish to accomplish with your tank. So many times in this hobby, we get into too much of a hurry and buy things we do not need. Trust me, I am speaking from experience here...

Need help with flow - concerned about Nitrates

IMO that would not be enough flow, but then it appears that you do not have many corals in your tank yet. A vortech MP40 on each end of your tank would give you plenty of flow once you start growing corals. The nice thing about the MP40's is that their flow is adjustable and if you have two...

    pH not going down

Okay, I got ya. I have heard that the new CRs come with a ph probe port but had forgotten all about it. BTW, don't get rid of your AquaController III. Darn nice controller. I just did when I upgraded to the Apex. Kicking myself in the butt now. Apex is a piece of crap right now but has...

    Rebuild of tank need advice

BTW, I see you are from Bradenton, FL which I don't believe is all that far from Orlando. Well at least in my perspective. Orlando will be the site of the 2010 MACNA. I would really encourage anyone that is serious about this hobby to save up and plan to attend. It's a great learning...

    Rebuild of tank need advice

No, I have not had any experience with the brand Rowaphos. I do run two Phosban 150Reactors, but as they are the Two Little Fishes brand, I stick to their product, Phosban. I don't think that one brand differs that much from another but I like to play it safe until I have time to research more...

    Rebuild of tank need advice

IMO what you need to do is first decide what you want to have in your tank. Second, decide on a budget. Third, read, read, read, read. Make the search engine on this forum your best buddy. If you can't find it here, make google your next best buddy. And DON'T take anyone's advice as gospel...

    Rebuild of tank need advice

Mine are positioned on the ends of my tanks. My opinion on flow is that you can never get too much as long as it is controllable, which is why I use Vortech. I believe I paid right at $200.00 for the MP10. I have a MP40 for my 215 that cost me $420.00 and I was lucky enough to pick up another...

    Rebuild of tank need advice

I have 2 40gal breeders I use for my frag tanks and run a Vortech MP10 in each. IMO, one of those would get you everything you need.

MACNA 21 is coming to Atlantic City, NJ September 25-27, 2009

I can relate! We took the train from Atlantic City to Philly 30th St. Station and then had to catch SEPA from 30th to airport. Both trains were DELAYED in the middle of the run. What should have been a 2 1/2 train rides turned into 4 hours. Event was great. Registered for Olando already!

    Glue corals

Superglue (gel) works well, also. There is a nack to getting it to work under water but with a little practice it does really well. You have to make sure you break the skin it forms under water to get it to hold. Regards

Need advice on a double end balast.

The ballast you linked to on ebay is just that, a ballast. Does not come with a capacitor or ignitor. It is also an M81 which is a pulse start ballast. Pulse starts are good but have a limited supply of bulbs as probe start is the standard. Just my 2 cents. Good luck. Regards,

    Glue corals

Do a search for Epoxy on MarineDepot's site. Tunze and Boston Aqua Farms have a product that I've used before with excellent results. Regards,

Need Help setting up my tank!!!

Go to google and search for 'reef aquarium setup photos' (without the quotes). That should keep you busy for sometime researching. Lots of info and lots of photos. You could also do a 'road trip' and come to the Tri-Cities the weekend of the 17th, 18th and 19th. The local Aquarium Club is...
