    Tieg/Stacey's 33 gal Reef :)

My wife wanted to put seahorses in it...but she did some research and came up with this: 1. Tank is to big. The measurements are 19.5 x 19.5 x 19.75 which comes out to about 33-34 gals. There is a whole bunch of variables she found indicating they are in need of a small tank unless we want...

    Tieg/Stacey's 33 gal Reef :)

K...got the Sand, water, rubble rock (my bio balls) & Cheeto in the back all in the tank. Little cloudy at the moment but should be settled out quite a bit by morning.

    Tieg/Stacey's 33 gal Reef :)

Thanks for the input peeps. I actually got about 75 percent of it off with the steam cleaner, putty knife, and good old elbow grease. Tank actually looks pretty good. Tomorrow I intend to put sand and water in it and then sometime this weekend the big rock. I'll post pics as we progress :)

    Tieg/Stacey's 33 gal Reef :)

Its a pain...I've been using a combination of a steam cleaner and a scraper. Its not going to be perfect but I'll have 3/4's of it off.

    Tieg/Stacey's 33 gal Reef :)

So we are starting the cleaning up process of this used 33 gal tank we got from the LFS for $300. It came with a set of LED lighting (model ECORAY60D), a new heater, and pump, and 2 used korelias. We intend to put soft corals in it and maybe 2-3 fish later on down the road. I'm fortunate to...

    JLo's new Biocube 29 build.....

How goes the tank? I'm about to set up something very similar to what you have. Your pics gave me some great ideas. What was in the sock that was above the sock with charcoal in it?

Back for those who remember...Hello for those who dont :)

Yeah...there's a bit of scraping still going on. That stuff on the back is horrible to get off. Threw away all the bio balls and working a deal on some LR rubble. Thanks for the welcome all.

Back for those who remember...Hello for those who dont :)

Thanks peeps. I was concerned about the LED lighting as I've never used them before. A lot of mixed reviews online with them. A lot of peeps like them a a lot of the traditionalist don't. Does anyone have any thoughts? Here is a pic of the tank that I'm in the process of cleaning up. The...

Back for those who remember...Hello for those who dont :)

Due to being in military had to sell our 75 gal and 30 gal in 2010 so we could move across country from WA to CT. But now we are settled and we bought a used 33 gallon tank from LFS and getting ready to start it up this weekend :) Got an awesome deal on the tank and a set of ECORAY60D LED...

    Mandarin Goby Blow up

Thx for the response....I am pretty positive by the gross bloating of the fish that it had some sort of fungal infection. The fact that I killed it in a most inhuman way makes me want to just give up the hobby. 2 things I have learned from your articles.... 1. Not getting any more pod eaters...

    Mandarin Goby Blow up

We got a mandarin for our 80 gal tank about 6 months ago and it was extremely happy and welcome addition to the tank. About 2 weeks ago I noticed he started blow up rather dramatically and form rather grotesque wrinkles all over. Almost like he was fat...but then fat like protrusions started...

    cubes

Having a lid will help with evap. I sacrificed the lid for better lighting so its a give a little take a little. Also, as mentioned in the reply prior to mine...smaller environment means any changes will impact a little more. I've yet to experience one of these but I'm also careful what I put...

    cubes

I have a 29 gal biocube which I bought as my very first tank a year and 4 months ago. I bought a little protein skimmer that fits in the 1st bay in the back and then removed the bio balls and actually put rubble live rock back there. My biggest beef is that my lighting...the ballast has gone...

    New To Reefkeeping

Also, when you do add your fish...don't add a bunch at a time. As mentioned earlier in a reply...the tank will have mini cycles and if you add to much at once you'll end up with a big cycle which will...well lets just say test not only the limits of your tank but the limits of your emotions ;)

    Restaurant with a nice tank?

I hate to say it...but being in the military and all over the continental US I had reservations at first about viewing this thread. Most of the Thai restaurant I've been to have aquariums...and everytime it has huge Koi (10-20 inchs) in like a 55-80 gal with a whole lot of algae. My friends...

    SPS and Anemone in Nano

Just to give you an idea what I have...again there is NO SPS in the tank at all...I wouldn't even try it...our goal was to find something for our picassos' to host in. This is what our RBTA looked like when I first took this photo in Dec 2007. This is what he looks like as of about 15 mins ago...
