Most Common Mistake you see....Please add one and move on so all can share..

Buying the low end product to save money. It never works out like that because you will have to replace the piece when it breaks or stops working. Then you will have to buy the one you though it was too expensive.

how to tell if LR is cycling right

This is a great answer. It should take you between 6 to 8 weeks to finish your cycle, all depends on how much die off you have on the rocks. To be honest with you, I never check for ammoni, nitrate or nitite during the 6 weeks, I wait until after that to start checking, check in params at this...

Washing filter bags and other stuff (new guy)

Welcome to the forum. If you notice that much of a diference from the new water to what is in the tank already you can add more RO water to even it out, I see that after you put it in the tank it kind of levels out but it is still diferent and it will shock the animals. Always try to get your...

    beach sand as substrate

Welcome Meche!! Candidate for a Bare Bottom tank, I like that. As Khris said, you do not have to have sand on your tank if you prefer not to (I don't and could not be happier), just know the rules if you decide to go this way.

    Got a new house!

The house is brand new and we definatly feel blessed, no more rent but also a place for my kids to play, run and do what they want. When we moved to Yuma we moved in to a 800sq ft appartment, so we heard neigbors and their music and the kids shared a room. I am so glad that is gone now. Thanks...

    Phosphate problems

Phospate can come in to the tank a few different ways, most of the fish food, specially flake food, has phospate. One of the reasons you have no detectable phospates in your tank is because the hair algie is using it up, then you may have a few plant eating fish/crabs/snail; when they poop, they...

    Got a new house!

Thanks everyone. There is actually someone trying to sell me his 110gal tank, for $200, but it is not reef ready, I don't think I want that again; don't want to deal with overflow boxes. My wife actually offered to get it for me, but if I do get it it will be a planted FW tank, some neons and...

    Got a new house!

It still does not feel like home, my kids are away for the summer with the grandparents and I miss them. Once they get here and put the first stain on the wall or carpet it will be just like home for us.
