Anyone having condensation problem with thier R/O units?

Lowes, HD or any hardware store should have the heating wire. I think that here in the PNW that would be the best choice. Let us know how it goes.

Crucial factors to maintaining a successful SPS tank

Is everything alive and healthy? Does the tank look good to you?(you are going to be the biggest critic of it, I know mine never look good to me) Is there an over abundance of algea growth, on the glass, sand equip? IMO if the tank looks good, everything is healthy and everything is not...

Anyone having condensation problem with thier R/O units?

I know that at work, the RO units heat the water to around 70 before sending it through the first pass membrane. You could just insulate the pipes.. or even run a coil heater around the pipe going to your RO filter and that would prevent your RO from condensing the moisture out of the air onto...

anyone have ideas on a home made chiller..

Scoot... do you have a hood over yours? I didn't have any problems when I had the tank in Guam.. I had an open light setup and the lights had a fan pulling the heat out of the lamp.

anyone have ideas on a home made chiller..

I have a fan right now blowing right across the water and only one of my MH on... the temp still gets up around 80 and the room temp is not over 65. When summer comes I am definately going to have to get a chiller.

    Hardware store sands in reefs

    3. Southdown calcium carbonate sand (likely aragonite) can release soluble silica, but about ten fold less than the “silica” sand. This is from said article. I think no matter what you will end up with some silica.

Off topic...what does your user name mean?

Mine is another work related one. MMN= Machinist Mate Nuclear, the underscore is just there to make it difficult to sign up for things, and the USN= United States Navy. I am in the Navy and a Nuclear Machinist Mate... I work with Reactors and associated piping... Pretty much a glorified...

    Hardware store sands in reefs

If you can find it, get South Down Play Sand. It is the same sand as Caribsea uses. Nice fine sand. My brother ran it in his 180 for almost 2 yrs no problems.

Well.. the hanging frag tree I made doesn't sink. But I was in the tank the other night fraging zoas so I pulled the superman out and look at it closely.... I found a small area that I broke off the rock and glued it to a frag plug... now the wait begins. So far it seems to be working... the...

    New setup question

So my nano (10 gal aga converted about 5 gal viewing with filter chambers all in the tank) bit the dust. Pump burnt up and almost killed the fish. I tore it down yesterday and was going to set up my other 10 for a zoa frag tank but then I got thinking. What if I made a 10 gal with 10 gal...
