    Tank crash questions

We discussed filtered water, but with very few water changes, I do think that topping up with water that had Alkalinity is what kept their pH from crashing with the waste and nitrate levels that high. Their tap water is low in phosphates and nitrates, I have another customer from Colbert with a...

    Tank crash questions

Markee please bring the rock back in from that tank and I will buy it back, if you're taking it down. I'll help you any way I can. I really am sorry for your losses. If the tank is empty, you can do large volume water changes to stabilize it again, either way. What a bummer. Barbie

    Tank crash questions

The rock they added was marshall island, well cured, and free of sponge. The nitrate reading was before the addition of the rock. There is a back filter and a CPR Bakpak that has the biobale in it. They plan to take that out, but I recommended not doing that until the tank stabilizes again...

    Tank crash questions

I already encouraged them to join here. I had done it before I ever sold them anything for their tank. I DID show her how to use a gravel siphon to clean the sand but the sand bed doesn't look more than an inch deep in the iphone picture I looked at. She is upset, but not mad at me. I feel...

    Tank crash questions

I have a new customer with a 30 gallon tank. It had 12 pounds of live rock, a bakpak skimmer, and a heavy fish load, with infrequent water changes. On Sunday, I sold her 21 pounds of well cured live rock and they drove it directly home to add to the tank. The tank had been up for 4 years...

    Hi all

Geez, how come your rock isn't already colored up? I keeed! That's going to look fantastic when the shiny stuff fills in. It's amazing how much coral you must have had in your 14 gallon, hehe. I do think you need to get creative and build an arch to the left and in front of your...

    February Meeting 2/13 Barbies @7:00pm

C'mon Michael, I bought cupcakes and cookies! She'll buy into it! For that matter, there IS the desperation tequila in the fridge! There is that big red Acan. bowerbanki she loves . Barbie

    zoa problems - solved????

There was a big news story about Levamisole recently. It's evidently becoming the drug of choice for cutting cocaine with. It can cause all sorts of immune system failures, but it makes the high more intense or something like that. I guess it's darwinism, but it sure makes it inconvenient for...

Tangs in trouble, help! (Pics coming soon)

Oh no! I'm so sorry to hear you're having such a problem with your treatment! You've basically already done everything I would recommend, at this point. I would have done a few bigger volume water changes early on, but I tend to panic like that. I definitely think you had low oxygen levels...

    zoa problems - solved????

Sorry Charlie, (You have no idea how much I like to say that, hehe) I've been frantically doing my water changes here at home today. I have one more reef tank change and the tanks upstairs and I'm officially done for the week, woohooo! Barbie

    zoa problems - solved????

I intended to bribe you to help him set up my calcium reactor whenever life settles down, so I might be able to fill in some gaps ;). Barbie

    zoa problems - solved????

I think I'm down to a box or two at the store, but I'll check. they were on the reorder list, at least. I honestly think if it was going to work you'd have killed them back and the zoos would have looked better last week, not steadily worse. I know, go me, kill another sale, hehe. Barbie

    zoa problems - solved????

I have potassium permanganate at the store, if it turns out to be something you want to try Tony. I use it pretty extensively with fw (it's not a common remedy because it can be quite unforgiving). They actually used it to sanitize the pond at manito last year after they euthanized all the koi...

    zoa problems - solved????

Peppermints will not eat the nudis, that I know of. I didn't have any problem eradicating them, honestly. I did fw dips once a week, checked for the egg masses and kept an eye on them when the lights were off with a flashlight in the morning and evening. I think I ended up finding 3 or 4...

    zoa problems - solved????

The Nudis I had were very tenacious, hence, the soft toothbrush. They would hide inside the zoo while it closed around them, I think. Barbie

    zoa problems - solved????

Oh my gosh! I'm so glad you found the predator! The times I've had these nudis they were relatively simple to get rid of. I did fw dips and used the soft bristle tooth brush to clean off any of the egg whirls. Hopefully your tank will be back to it's complete glory in a matter of days :)...

    Photography from Meeting

No, no range, I was just messing with it among the other settings. It's always different for different tanks. I still didn't really find the best setting, but at least you can tell what some of them are ;). Reid rocks! Now to get him to go take pictures and teach me! Luckily for me he loves...

    Photography from Meeting

OK, here we go. None really fantastic, but at least a few keepers ;). These were shot with my 100mm F2.8 macro lens on my Canon 40D at an ISO of 320-400 and an Fstop of 5.6 (ish) and 1/85 of a second exposure. Hopefully that will help someone! I'll make a second post...
