best way to deal with hair algae?

I would like to help someone I know deal with a huge hair algae outbreak in their tank. It is about 3 months old and totally covered with long, stringy hair algae. It came in on the rock they got from the LFS along with the aptasia. You can see both in the rock tanks at the LFS. The LFS also...

    Bristle Worms are Amazing!

Yes, these guys curl up and stick out their bristles as well when bothered, however I have always touched them, picked they up and even torn them into 2 pieces with my bare hands and never been "stung". I think my skin on my hands is thick enough that the bristles don't bother me, but if I had...

    Bristle Worms are Amazing!

these guys don't look anywhere near as slimy when under water, and they also are a lot fuzzier under water. And they are reddish pink. They sound the same, just out of the water they look different. And as long as they are not being bad, then they must be good.

    Bristle Worms are Amazing!

I tried to post already but somehow lost my post. So if this is a duplicate I apologize. I love my bristle worms. They are hands down the best scavengers I have. As you see in the pic, I have some pretty big ones. These two live in my sump. The other day I put a bunch of oyster shells in my...

    Question about tools for propagation

I don't see why stainless is necessary. I use whatever I have, which includes a lot of tools out of my tool box, like my needle nose plyers and wire cutters. They are both rusty but do the job. I lube them up from time to time with garlic or fish oil, therefore I don't care if a little gets in...

    sps's with leather corals?

How do we know that GSP are toxic? I have had GSP in my previous tank and am growing a lot in my current tank and this is the first time I have heard this. I have a plan to have a GSP lawn on the bottom of my bare bottom 100 gallon tank. Is this a bad idea? I have had some issues with RTN and...

    deep sand bed clams??

Manila clams are all over the place, most place where you dig clams you will find manila. They are actually not native to the PNW and are native to warmer waters, so it makes sense that they can handle tropical temperatures. Next time I go clam digging I will make sure to keep a few to try out...
