Before reading further, understand that these are not meant to look like natural reef systems, but use reef organisms to create interesting and ecclectic art.

Was sitting around with the hubby last night -- talking/brainstorming. I am going to be building a couple of nanotanks (tank and...
I might be concerned about algae buildup in the tubing or tunnel. We had a situation where our overflow tubing developed gunking and required regular flushing/cleaning. Only thing that seemed to work well, was being able to pull the pipe out and give it a good scrub. Perhaps consider how you are...
Funny thing. I think I did get the "go to gal". I was transfered to her from the receptionist. I suspect I would have had a better experience if I had gone into the store in person. Good news though. I talked with a friend today, and he referred me to another glass place. I'm still collecting...
I recieved frightening customer service while researching Tempered Glass and Chemical Strengthening of glass.
Reached a person who had never heard of chemical strengthing, and who would not listen to my questions. I simply received canned responses, and was abruptly cut off.
How would you...
I'm researching tempered glass for an article and a DIY project. I would like recommendations to both online websites and PNW distributors of tempered glass.
Have you ordered online?
Have you bought local?
How'd it go?
Which did you find was more economical?
Nikon D-50, Nikon D-70
I borrow them from my friends about once a month, and then take pictures for comparison purposes. I would like to own a D-70. I make due with the lens' my friends have. Nothing special.
Still learning how to snag good shots manually.
GARF makes a cement that it recommends for making your own liverock. I was considering purchasing a bag, and then going down to my local plastics place and picking up some shavings.
Here's an article for setting up a zero impact reef tank http://www.garf.org/aragwk/zero.html
I was wondering if...
I've never considered splitting mushrooms to be a cruel thing, it makes friends and clones for them to hang out with :D ... and then you can have a beautiful colony. We have great luck with toothpicking, and once a shroom has been sliced off a rock to be relocated the existing flesh turns into...
Hah. So far, the chips causing cracks and exploding tanks appears to be a relatively rate occurance... noted by a lack of personal experiences being shared. ;)
Thanks for welcoming me to RF. I love it hear... been reading for a year now. Just decided to start posting regularly.
Nice to meet ya!
:D I absolutely intend to do so. I emailed PSAS for due fees and am intending to become a member. I have friends who are members. Most of the LS shops we got to on a regular basis are sponsors of PSAS events and the forums too! I'm looking forward to meeting up and trading frags. We don't have...
 Sure! I understand. I'm actually just polling for actual tanks that have structurally failed due to a chip or ding. I've not known anyone who's experienced this personally.
Thanks for the response!
This montipora was frag purchase from Saltwater City, in Seattle. Started out as a chip not much bigger than a half dollar. Here it is 7 months old, it has much better light now, and is growing well.
This candy coral has decided to grow like gang busters under the new actinic/metal halide lights in out 40 gallon tank. It's a small miracle. 1 year ago, the husband went to work in China for 2 months, we had an avalance, and 2 of the 3 polyps were shredded and then died. Look at it now! 5 polyps a
I call this tube anemone the "Joker". It hasn't increased much in size since we purchased it less than a year ago. It likes to stay in the sand, but initially it was settled in a hole in the live rock. It always seems to like to hang at the front of the tank. I like to watch it feed. At ni
I'm a long time lurker and appreciator, but first time poster. I really wish I would have started contributing a year ago... so that others could have gotten to know me by now.
I've heard of the dangers of chips and dings, but I've yet to hear of a tank explosion due to a chip... the...
We've had this hammer coral for a little over 1 year. It has begun to split. At first we placed it in an area with too much water circulation (twisted them up a bit) causing the tendrils to enlarge and bloat. Now it has had 6 months recovery time, and is near to normal. Likes low water circulation.
My first reef aquarium. 30 gallon hex. Tore it down 2 months ago. Critters moved to 40 gallon. Anemone, clownfish, and dottyback traded to to LS store.
40 gallon tank, snatched for free off of LiveJournal community. Custom stand/canopy lighting. Purchased overflow from Llarian. Custom 10 gallon sump/refugium and plumbing. Skimmer visible. Not visible... uv filteration and some other odds and ends. Lots of DIY involved in this project.
