In Wall - going for it! - seeking your ideas/feedback/advice

Wow Ben, your tank has REALLY filled out since I last saw it. I love the Denro's as well.

    300gals Deep Dimension

I hope you still plan to set this tank up Dang. Not only do I expect another work of art but I need to shoot another tank of yours! lol

Trying out my new Canon 50D

I can't really see a use for the aperture mask. It looks like someone has a bit more time on their hands than myself, lol. Here is a clownfish shot that I liked from yesterday. And this little tailspot is just too much fun to shoot. The face is hilarious.

A few from the Columbia River Gorge

I hiked up to the top and about another mile or so back and didn't really see much else. The best views are pretty much from the road though there would be a few cool places to hike to if I'm ever down there again. It's nice to put the face to a name. Thanks everyone for the comments!

    Who Makes Custom Glass Tanks?

I know he does 24x24x24 cubes for $600, not sure on a 36x36x24. My guess would be closer to $1000 though. I wasn't impressed with GC's silicon work and Aquarium Obsessed was the next option at $1300. He does great work and the glass has a really nice beveled and polished edge. Great work for the...

    Who Makes Custom Glass Tanks?

I paid $850 for mine (no tax in OR). I thought that was pretty good for 1/2" starphire w/external overflow. Here it is before I filled it up:

    Who Makes Custom Glass Tanks?

Joel from Waves Marine down in Portland makes custom starphire tanks. He did my 30x30x24 cube and had a 36x36x24 sitting right next to mine when I picked up. I am quite happy with how everything turned out and would purchase from him again in a heartbeat.

A few from the Columbia River Gorge

I decided to take advantage of the nice weather and head down near the Portland area to take a few shots. The sunrise was awesome as I was driving to the sale at BR on Saturday so I was hoping it would be the same on Sunday morning. I woke up at 2:30 am and drove on down there so I could be down...

Trying out my new Canon 50D

You shouldn't have a problem getting shots with the 17-85, you'll just probably have to bump the ISO to compensate for the smaller aperture. There are a ton of good macro options and the Canon 100mm is a great middle of the road lens. The 60mm is awesome but doesn't give much reach for macro...

Trying out my new Canon 50D

I'm using the Sigma 150mm F/2.8 macro lens. I had the Canon 100mm and you can get these same results, the Sigma just has a bit more reach. As for the settings, you can download a firefox plug-in called EXIF viewer and that will give you all of the settings that I used for each shot. In general I...

Trying out my new Canon 50D

I have another one from Jan that is purple with green polyps, I'll have to see if I can get a picture of it as well. I'm terrible with the names though.

Trying out my new Canon 50D

Here is one of the frags I got from you. I had to move the others so the polyps were retracted. This piece looks nice and happy though. I got this piece a few weeks ago from Jan and it is growing and encrusting nicely.

Trying out my new Canon 50D

Hopefully it is a good sign that he almost fainted, lol. Thanks again for the comments. They aren't really in the best spot for pictures right now but I'll get 'em moved around and take a few shots.

Trying out my new Canon 50D

I have it listed on craigslist for $500, that seems to be the going rate for those bodies. Here is the ad: http://seattle.craigslist.org/est/ele/907243509.html

Trying out my new Canon 50D

Read? Eh, never learned :) I actually am pretty sure that I failed photography back in high school if I remember right, lol. I have learned by nothing more than trial and error. Digital is free to shot so experimenting is your friend. And Angie, the Tailspot is probably one of my favorite fish...

Trying out my new Canon 50D

surf_buddy, I thought about getting the 5DMKII but I would have to switch up all but one of my lenses (Sigma 150mm). I absolutely love my 17-55mm F/2.8 IS and would be hard pressed to part with it in favor of the 24-70mm F/2.8L which is an absolute brick. I'll make the move to full frame one...

Trying out my new Canon 50D

I figured it was time for an upgrade since I've been shooting with my 30D for over two years now. One thing I love about this new camera is the live view mode, which I really never thought I would use. I can see the picture magnified 10x's on the 3" VGA LCD and make any manual focus adjustments...

That's awesome to hear that Jon donated that skimmer, I'm sure that will draw in quite the crowd for a chance to win that bad boy. This has the workings of a great sale once again!
