    Yuma vs Floridae ID

Yuma's have bumps on the mouth and Florida's don't This pink Yuma has bumps on it's mouth. It's a baby one so the bumps aren't very prominent quite yet. The Ricordia on the bottom is a Florida.

Help w/planning for a calcium reactor

Thanks for the reply Mat. What is the peristalic pump for? I'm guessing it's used to slowly add the calcium rich water into the tank. Are these required with all calcium reactors? And I see that many of these reactors have an eheim or similar pump attached to the body. Is this just for internal...

    Some new macro shots

I had a few extra minutes tonight and wanted to snap some pics. The first set is from a SPS frag that I got from Dang yesterday. It seems happy in my tank so far and had some nice polyp extension. I bumped the tank with the lens and the polyps closed up for this shot. And this one is from...

Help w/planning for a calcium reactor

I have been using a DIY kalk reactor for a while now and I'm thinking I would greatly benefit from a calcium reactor as I have been adding more SPS to my tank and my calcium never seems to raise above 320'ish. The problem is that I don't really know where to start and these things seem to...

Do I....have something in my teeth?

This guy is pretty small at about 3". My tank isn't going to be a long term home for him since he'll get 7" but I needed him to clear some macro out for me. He has been taking care of my caulpera like a champ and enjoys when a piece of chaeto floats up from the fuge, lol.

Ben's (Class Clown) 240G Photo thread

It really just takes time and practice to learn how to shoot the fish/corals and which settings work best. Taking the time to get a good shot will save tons of time from the start, you can't photoshop a bad pic into a good one, only good into better. But I'm slowing getting some more time to...

    tack sharp?

And don't use F/22 since you are loosing sharpness due to diffraction. Stick to the F/8-F/11 range if possible. Using mirror lock-up helps as well.

    Grand Opening Sale!!

I see that you guys are having a sale on some Reeflux 12K bulbs. Do you guys have any of those on display in the store? I'd love to see how the color is. It's about time to switch my 250W 14K Hamilton and I wouldn't mind trying something new with a little less blue. How do you think they would...

Jan, color is such a subjective thing and not always easy to get accurate. I just play around with the color temperature sliders in Lightroom until it looks correct to my eyes. I have my white balance set to manual so everything should come out consistent so not much adjustment would be needed...

Ben's (Class Clown) 240G Photo thread

#26 looks like a brain coral to me. But here is a quick example of the workflow for that shot. The original full-frame shot from the camera has about a million white specs which don't show up once it was resized, those specs are always a pain to clone out. From Lightroom, I adjust the white...

Ben's (Class Clown) 240G Photo thread

Thanks for all of the kind comments guys. My editing can be pretty extensive depending on the initial shot. There are a few things that you have to get right when you hit the shutter no matter how good your photoshop skills are. Composition is something that I'm working on as having everything...

You let me know which ones you want as I have all of the full-resolution shots. I would get the prints done at Costco, I have used them in the past for prints and they turned out excellent. I still have TONS more pictures to edit, lol. Don't start picking out the ones you want quite yet :D
