All right that is what I am doing. I am also mounting 2 PC case fans on opposite ends of the hood with each one moving 68cfm at a mere 24db (dead silent). Hopefully this will be enough to dissipate much of the heat.- jlearned

Good idea Ill give it a try. I have spent the most of the last 2 days at manhattansreefs.com and thought if I went with the 175W lights I would use the Iwasaki 15000K as they have one of the highest PPFD values ran on IceCap Ballast. OK so I have some questions regarding MH lighting. I have built a DIY hood that is 62x19x14. My tank is 26" deep. I plan on having a 2 to 2-1/2" sand bed. Anyone out there have any diy aquarium stand plans that I could use???
My Stand Here are a few pics of the stand I just finished for my new 120. It was made with a simple 2x4 frame and wrapped in 1/2" Birch plywood on the sides and 3/4" Birch plywood on the decks. The trim is chair rail moulding. I am just finishing the doors up so they have not beend hung yet.- jlearned

Octopus Skimmers Are the SWC skimmers the same as the Reef Octopus line of skimmers. They look almost identical and are matched by their stats? I am in the market for a skimmer for my 120 and I have been leaning towrds the Reef Octopus NW200 model. Thanks in advance.- jlearned

All was had at Home Depot thanks to Gift Cards Thanks for the props. All the materials were bought at home depot. It is wrapped in 1/2" birch plywood on the sides and 3/4" birch plywood on the decks.
