    Morish idol

As already posted a few times, the Idol belongs in the class of "better left in the wild." In four years of scouring way too many forums, I've only read of one person who's had longer success than maybe a year with an Idol. PaulB, a member here, had one for quite some time. His specialized...

    Protein Skimmer Question???

I have no personal experience with this skimmer, but everything I've ever read has labelled the prism as one of the prime "dunce cap" reef equipment items of all time. It has a horrible reputation for being sold by LFS to unaware customers, and being an extremely inefficient piece of equipment.

    Smallest mesh mod ever!

    Here you go.

    Smallest mesh mod ever!

The bubbles are definitely more numerous and finer. The noise is definitely gone. The skimmate was barely darker than water, at its best. Now, it's like an extremely weak tea, but that's still darker than it was. It also stinks now, when before there was almost no smell. I'll post some pics I...

Sweet. Thanks guys for getting to that before me. :)

    Freeking Awesome Story

Uh-oh! Great, all this excitement, and I have to debate whether or not to post. I guess SOMEONE has to spoil the picnic.... Hey elite... first, aren't all the new finds awesome? That's arguably the best part of the tank. I still stay up at night with a small flashlight finding all the little...

    Smallest mesh mod ever!

It may not be the smallest ever, but it's the smallest I've personally seen. On my JBJ 12g nano, I'm running that Sapphire skimmer. It's always been a lot noisier than I thought it should be, and the pump it comes with has been extremely inconsistent, so I replaced the pump. I'm now running a...

    Keeping Torch/Hammer/Frogspawn

Make sure to leave the closed parentheses on the end of the URL. vB is truncating it off, yes. http://www.asira.org/catalaphyllia(elegancecoral) http://www.asira.org/euphyllia(hammercoral) http://www.asira.org/corallimorphia(ricordiaandmushrooms)...

    Keeping Torch/Hammer/Frogspawn

I also had all three in a 38g. They're all in a 120 now, and the hammer and frogspawn are close enough that they're always touching. I have never had any issues.

    Reef classifieds

Don, just a personal pet peeve of mine: It's HOBBYIST, not hobbiest. The latter would be one who is the most hobbi. I'm not sure if that's good or bad. :)

    Emily Gracin Taylor

So we're talking about Bahamas making a presence in women's basketball in the 2028 Olympics!

    Emily Gracin Taylor

Wow, she's just so big! I just looked back and the Christmas photos you posted, where Emily was 16 months old.... Paige is still not that big, at just past two years! The new house looks nice, too, Krish!

    Test Kits

I buy my Salifert kits from OceansAquariums, where they're a lot cheaper than anywhere else I've found. www.oceansaquariums.com

Please help.. RDO in tank won't stop...

You've gotten a lot of good advice. I love forums for that. I had a couple ideas to add, as well. With the baking soda addition, try adding it in a drip, so it's dosed slowly. If you're adding an entire gallon, I'd add that over at least a couple hours, if not longer. Kevin, my thought on the...

    first bought clam?

A picture really would help a lot, so we can see which species it is. Is the shell relatively smooth, or does it have rows of "scales" down the shell? Being purple, I'm putting my money on T. Crocea, but I'd like to see a picture first. Lots of light, lots of calcium/alkalinity/magnesium as...

    Stocking a 120 gal tank?

Generally, you want to shoot for adding the more timid fish first. That means cardinals and firefish, in this case. The more territorial fish like the clowns are slightly later in the game just because of how they'll fight for their territory. The blenny doesn't really have anyone to fight with...

    Sherman Tank 120

Thanks, Gabs. I've kind of let that thread go. However, Mrs. Sherman has started a blog. You can always check there for updates. http://wedehase.blogspot.com

    Sherman Tank 120

Thanks, atavus. The photo was originally shot in RAW, so I was able to properly white balance it. This helped bring some of the actual colors of the corals out, rather than wash them in blue. In addition, there is always a significant amount of "magic" done in post processing. It may sound a...

    Sherman Tank 120

I'm making real progress on this cyano. I'm siphoning less than weekly now. Diatoms are definitely present, so this tank is still cycling with the bioload change caused by the removal of all that cyano. At the same time, I've also added some fish. Anyway, here's the Red Spot Watchman Goby, as...
