Suggestions on control of Bubble Algea

What about light? I've moved a bunch of my LR that's got quite a few (ok maybe 100 or so) bubble algae to my sump that stays dark all the time. Does anyone know if that'll end up taking care of the bubble algae?

    Sick Wrasse, what to do?

Wrasse is slowly improving after another water change this weekend and a varied diet of bloodworms, formula 1 / formula 2, and brine shrimp. She's started moving around on her own across the breeding tank to catch food, and is now able to see food on the net and swim after it. She's still...

    Sick Wrasse, what to do?

So, I want to thank you all for your continuous help here. I picked up some Formula 1 & 2 today, and some bloodworms. The wrasse is eating, that's a good sign. I'll put her back into the rest of the tank so she can find some hiding places, and hopefully de-stress a bit more. She's slowly...

    Sick Wrasse, what to do?

Have only been checking PH, 'trates and ammonia (8.2, 0, 0) but not nitrites... Will test in the a.m. with the next water change. No noticable odors from the transport bags...

    Sick Wrasse, what to do?

Yes, I have a "sunken titanic" aquarium decoration and a "stump" decoration. Both are hollowed out, both have hiding places and the fish use them. However, the wrasse is in a breeding net, not the main tank so I can feed her by hand.

    Sick Wrasse, what to do?

I have a CPR BakPak on the display tank, but that doesn't seem like it would work well. I also have a Fluval 304 filter that's on the QT right now, but that also doesn't seem like a good alternative. Sorry for the ignorance (I haven't spent much time reading up on cope's), are they something...

    Sick Wrasse, what to do?

Steve, Wrasse was put into QT with same temp / pH as display tank, but QT salinity was lower than display tank. She was listless prior to the transfer, and likely had not moved from her location for at least 2 days prior to the move. I've kept up 20% water changes every 2-3 days and added the...

    Sick Wrasse, what to do?

    You assumed I had a sump... :)

    Sick Wrasse, what to do?

The hospital tank also has a coral beauty angel in it that is being treated for ich. So, yes, the wrasse is in a hyposaline tank now. I maintain it at 14-16 ppt. The wrasse doesn't seem to eat flake food. Other than Tetramin flake food, brine shrimp and regular shrimp, I don't have any other...

    Sick Wrasse, what to do?

I have a sixline wrasse that did not get quarantined after arrival (my bad). Within 2 days of arrival, she developed cloudy eye. She started hiding and did some scratching on rock, I assumed ich and hoped that she would get over it and heal, as she was eating well and swimming strong during...

most humane way to kill a suffering fish?

Jonathan, I'd suggest seeing if the LFS would accept it as a store credit towards another SW inhabitant. Frank might be the best fit for your tank, but others may have the perfect tank. And, there's always the Livestock for Sale forum here as well. Dave

need help ASAP on newly added 6 line wrasse

Update... I fed the fish some brine shrimp and the wrasse ate about a dozen of them! I'm more hopeful now that the wrasse can recover, at least eating is a good sign.

need help ASAP on newly added 6 line wrasse

Interestingly enough, my sixline has done some of the same things, but appears to be ailing to the point of intervention. I have moved him to a hospital tank where the fish are also being treated for ich. He's too weak to swim, only laying on his side. There was food next to his mouth, but he...

    ICH in the reef tank

I bit the bullet this weekend and pulled out 120 lbs of rock to catch my damsels, ailing wrasse, watchman goby, coral beauty and lawnmower blenny. They've all gone to the hospital for hyposalinity treatment of ich per recommendations at: http://www.marineaquariumadvice.com/aquarium_fish_3.html...

What can hold its own with a damsel?

I have a sixline wrasse, coral beauty angel and lawnmower blenny with my two yellow-tailed blue damsels. They all seem happy together, but I think I'm lucky with those two damsels.

    Is canister filter required?

Add a bag of carbon to what? I assume the BakPak, correct?

    Is canister filter required?

I have a CPR BakPak2 and a Fluval 304 and about 100 lbs of LR for filtration in my 55 Gal . Can I safely eliminate the Fluval? It's been suggested that I'm not getting a lot of incremental benefit from the canister filter and could safely remove it. Thoughts? - Dave 55 gal acrylic CPR...

    turbocharging skimmers

on a related topic, would putting a airstone at the bottom of my CPR intake side be a way to effectively boost skimming capability?

    The perfect storm?

Honestly, at this point it's been somewhat unplanned. I know it's not best for the long haul, but at this point, I'm very happy with the items I have, and don't plan to add any more for quite some time. So, you can refer to my original post, and that's what I intend to keep. I may end up...

    The perfect storm?

On the subject of BB, I do really like the look of my tank with the substrate in it. It appears much more natural. If I think about the tank you first see when walking into Saltwater City, it is a BB tank. It just feels like someone plopped a bunch of LR, corals and fish into a tank, rather...
