    Monster Skimmer

    as to the skimmer. you would need a minimum of 40 cfh of air to the skimmer body to clean the water properly. so i would say a 20-25 gallon main chamber would do the trick. either a beckett aor needlewheel would be my choice of injecting air.

    What Type of Tank?

    its not recomended for tanks. its not strong enough. weldon 4 is good to 2500 psi after 1 week at room temp. where weldon 40 is good to 4000 psi after 1 week at room temp. then you have these guys that use to thin of meteral to build a tank.

    the biggest pro i found with an acrylic tnk is having the overflow on the outside of the tank. no waisted space. coast to coast overflow too. much easer to design and build. the cons are scratches, and tanks that are under built. 90% of the acrylic tanks are not glued together properly. they...

    to try and answer your question. the exit pipe is tall so the water in the skimmer is lower than the water in the exit pipe. the top of the pipe is open to let air in. this will prevent a siphon affect from the water faling out the pipe. the valve at the bottom is so you can ajust the water...
