    Pipes have condensation

Yeah it is most probably just the pipes sweating. A leak won't cover the pipe like sweat will.

    CB Butterfly infection?

Oh no worries Lee! I didn't take it that way at all. I really appreciate your replies and advice. It just seems odd when I do have a 'sufficient' cleaner crew, top notch sump with filtration and an awesome Vertex Alpha Cone Skimmer that is amazing. This is why I was seeking your advice...

Why is it hard to keep Mag levels 'high'?

Interesting... I believe Scotwood was the manufacturer of a different brand of ice melt found locally at a few stores but I could not positively ID the ingredients, portions, and concentrations so I passed. I might try to contact them for info.

To have a closed loop or not

I went from four CL with four iwaki pumps and a bunch of plumbing under the floor to two MP40s on my new setup. Much simpler to maintain and cheaper to run, much more efficient, and easy to change around as the tank changes. As of now, I have no desire to go back to the bulk and rigidity that...

To have a closed loop or not

I have had both. And love both. The pro and con's, your system, your preferences will be the weighing factors. Cost, maintenance, flexibility, flow, pattern, heat, noise, aesthetic need to be factored.

Krish needs our thoughts and prayers!!!

Hey... do we still have to keep praying for Krish? Or are we 'back' to normal?

Why is it hard to keep Mag levels 'high'?

Okay, hunted the world over today... well, just Kitsap County and could not find 'pure' Magnesium Chloride. Found it as part of various De Icing crystals but always containing a mix of Calcium Choride and sometimes Potassium Chloride, and in some cases, who knows else. So I guess it is Bulk...

    Gallons per hour???

Wow! A couple votes more than 10 hours a week! Does that include time spent on Reef Frontiers? LOL

    CB Butterfly infection?

This CB went in after the rock pull so I think I was clear there... ammonia tests never revealed much on the scale. I have been following your celibacy until the end of next month and might be with you if I have more problems. Luckily my picasso's, gobi, and leopard wrasse seem to be steady...

Why is it hard to keep Mag levels 'high'?

Thanks for the link. I remember now reading this long ago and went away at that time and bought a big bag a de-ing flakes. It wasn't 'Mag or Dow Flakes' so I chickened out on the recipe with Epson Salt. I think I still have both hanging around in the garage but I remember looking at the blue...

Why is it hard to keep Mag levels 'high'?

Okay nice to hear an empthasier I guess. I would really like to find a commercial alternative to Tech M and other reef products (not to single them out) just because I think mag supplement is over priced. I might be missing that there is a price to pay for a level of purification/quality of...

    CB Butterfly infection?

Seriously, I have looked. These were relatively small Chromis and my tank is 200+ gal system with strong skimmer, floss filteration cleaned regularly, carbon intermittantly. I have very large only live rock mostly 20lbs plus or minus 5lb of very porous. Had Chromis before in a different tank...

Why is it hard to keep Mag levels 'high'?

I have been doing this for awhile and I am still mystified why I struggle with Mag levels. I have migrated from IO salt to Reef Crystals, dosed with Kent Mag, etc. but it always seems I can't get the mag level to where I want. I have used Calcium Reactor, Dosed Calcium, and really no troubles...

    Who's planning to attend SEAMAX?

I'm in! We need to show that the Puget Sound is a mecca for marine life in many ways. It was a main reason so many settled here in the 1800s. Whaling, Salmon, Shrimp, Crab, Oysters, Ocotpus, protected harbors, etc. Great Diving on the Hood Canal, where I live. The fish aren't as colorful as...

    Gallons per hour???

Yeah you guys are all on the right track. I know it really requires two polls that are linked. One, how many hours per week. and Two, how big is the tank. Me thinks Krish already said it best as it depends also on the automation of your system, especially when you start going above 50 to 75...

    CB Butterfly infection?

Sorry, my last post had an embarrassing typo. My dang ipad did an auto correction of light 'bioload' to light 'billows'. The root cause may have been the dissappearance of 5 chromis over about a 10 day span that were recently introduced. Not sure what happened but maybe they attacked by...

This will be good... I need to get my tools warmed up again. The gargage has been damp and cold. I like the idea of using figured maple... can't say I know english elm though! Haven't worked with that before. Are there going to be any videos too???
