    Bad Coral Banded Shrimp... Help!

I had a coral banded try and catch my juvenile ocellaris. At that point, I knew it was time for him to go. Before that, he would pick out thiny serpent stars from the rock and munch on them. I would also attribute the disappearance of a peppermint shrimp or two to this guy. How big is your...

    Malware

Thanks for getting this fixed! I have a new-found appreciation for this site after having been denied it for so long. :)

Just wanted to share a video

That tridacnid in the center looks like a head, with the coral on either sides as the hands. Very cool.

At least you're coming up with ways to improve the process. Keep on thinking! :)

    Are my Anemones Dying?

If you were to over-fill the tank with RO water, then you'd have a lowered concentration of alk, mag, calc, etc. Since you're only refilling the evaporated water, the mineral content would stay the same. Top_Water, are you talking about PH, or DKH? Being that RO water would be a PH of 7...

    Delete inactive members?

I haven't been here that long, but have seen revivals from people who were out of the hobby for three years. It's also nice to have them on here in case you see a thread where they have a similar problem to you, you could then follow their posts and see if there was a solution in a later thread.

    small spreading starfish.... help

Generally, these guys are harmless. As Finn mentioned, however, there are a few species which feed on zooanthids. Check this out for more details: http://www.coralpedia.com/index.php?module=Gallery2&g2_itemId=384

    Newbie question

What crazy said! The physical distinctions between zooanthids and palythoas will lend themselves to be easier seen as you've spent more time trolling the forums. ;) Zooanthids tend to be more colorful (opinion, but not absolute) with varying patterns. They will tend to form a mat, covering an...

    Snails

Astreas and turbos will make short work of the algae on the rocks. Ceriths and nerites will tend to get in-between cracks a little easier. Unfortunately, speaking from experience, snails will sooner leave your rocks sparkling white than clean the entire span of the glass. You're more likely...

    sailfin tang not eating

Sorry for your loss, Capemercy. Sailfins have such personality. Are they all camera hogs by nature? They always seem to love the spotlight!

Would a painting of a coral reef represent unity?

I'm afraid I don't understand the context. Are you painting the back of your aquarium, or is this a school project? You could surely have a fine composition and a wealth of colors to choose from with a reef-themed painting. If you are looking for some tricks to bring the aquascaping together...

    Had Two Visiters today.:)

If you could put them in the aquarium, at least they'd thrive on nitrates! :) I have to agree about zoos looking like flowers. It would be cute to mimic a house from the 50's with a white house and a funky little zooanthid/clove polyp/GSP garden in front. You could even use hammers or...

    help, needed

Did you end up building a refugium, or at least adding some chaeto to your sump? I had a terrible time with bryopsis, but it's now receding. Changing my halides to a higher spectrum cut the photosynthetic capabilities of the algae, and running the light on the refugium longer soaked up more...

    box fish ?

Bored's right; You'll definitely need to block the intake, if not switch to a smaller pump. The week I brought my baby longhorn home, he became stuck to a pump intake for a whole night! I brushed him off and no damage has been seen from the incident. I ended up switching pumps until he got a...
