    tap water was the "final frontier" back in the early days of the hobby, ro/di strips everything out and leaves just pure water, tap water will have chlorine/chlorimine, nitrate,phosphate , iron and what every else is acceptable by government regulation, none of them belong in a reef tanks...

    depends lol, some mixes add clay to stop clumping and it settles out as a brownish powder, if you mixed it in warm water it may not have mixed correctly, if it was that old and salt being hygroscopic its probably just bad salt

    Hi Jim! what is fish only salt? there are salts that are specialized for special needs but salt for fish only "might" be mixed at a lower salinity than for a reef, you buying premxed? 1st new equipment if your are would be an ro/di filter. 2nd would be a good set of test kits, calcium,alkalinity...

    GHA won't starve out, as it dies off it consumes itself and continues, not changing water comes from the bad old days of no ro/di water and tap water is usually pretty loaded with nutrients in several forms. On the bright side... the GHA is consuming P04 in the rock so regular removal of the GHA...

    if they came from the same colony to begin with, shared genetics? space is survival hence the stingers on some, you can only try and watch for the burns if they happen

    snake oil like the rest. You may have to remove the skimmer and run it with 50/50 vinager mix, plastic absorbs moisture and may be coated with whatever crap was in the additive, three cures only for ich and after all these years there are only 3
