In Wall - going for it! - seeking your ideas/feedback/advice

I recommend ample "Pipe Thread Tape" on threaded fittings. Things like the "Spears Super Blue Liquid Thread Sealent" do seal wonderfully... but you'll never unthread that fitting in the future! If you don't need something unthreaded in the future, why use a threaded fitting??? Just do slip...

    Fish and Algea

I've read many threads of people trying various fish (Lawnmower's, Tangs.. etc) and nothing really seemed to work "Short-term" for them. What seemed to work best, is finding what is fueling the growth of their hair algae, and removing that. Usually phosphates & nitrates. Additions of a Fuge...

In Wall - going for it! - seeking your ideas/feedback/advice

Having a BB tank myself, something you need to remember is... the bottom will NOT remain bare long!!! :D Doing the starboard does help protect the bottom of your tank from scratches from your rockwork... true. Weather you leave it the shocking white, or do the dusting of sand... in about 4...

    Hydor Flo?

KCharm, Never owning a Nano, I don't have any experience with them, or their required flow. If you were Krish, you would go with a hammerhead closed loop, but most wouldn't want the cleanup from the splashing water like he enjoys. :D Found this post, and thought it may interest you...

O.K. this is probably a totally newbie question

*Passing Charlie a box of Kleenex* I know, once I start typing, can't seem to get my fingers to stop... SORRY ALL! Gabby, the only problem I have is, I wanted my new tank setup to be a SPS only tank. Now, I've lost about a 1/4 of my tank to this darn BTA! ;) Realize that my Sailfin...

O.K. this is probably a totally newbie question

I went from "baby-sitting" a small 3" GBTA, to owning a monster 18" GBTA... all in about a 6 month time frame. When I was asked to "baby-sit" this anenome, it was pale, and very shrivled up looking. The person that was moving his tank had NEVER given it any food, believing in "Survival of the...

    Favorite Fish??

I enjoy my Achilles Tang. When I reach in the tank to get my letuce clip... he is there awaiting me to hold it open, so he can pick off any little pieces of Nori that may be left. After he has cleaned off the clip totally, he then brushes up against my fingers... in like a "Okay, I'm done...

    what is causing this

Michelle, The more about your system you let us know about, the better information the group here can come up with to hopefully find a solution to your problem. We now know your tank size and lighting. Thats good. What do you have (or do you) for a skimmer? What are your water test results...

    what is causing this

Michelle, I would guess that this is a fairly new tank setup?? Say... around the 1 month period?? Looks like your tank is going through the diatom stage. Happens to all new tanks, nothing to worry about. You can help the process to run its course by vacumming out as much of those brown...

    Lights Off

Interesting idea, but 3 days without any lights is even more un-natural than leaving lights on same schedule all the time I would think. I could possiblly understand some "dimmer day" period, but not totally lights out. Just my thoughts.

Does anyone have an opinion on feeding units?

okay... Krish beat me to the punch... go figure! ;)

Does anyone have an opinion on feeding units?

Deb, There are many different "Auto Feeders" on the market, that you could choose for feeding flake and/or pellets. Since you don't have anyone available to feed your fish, this might be a good option for you.

looking for a GOOD digital camera

Being able to do underwater pictures would be a very nice bonus with a different style camera. I know there are "professional" camera boxes for most of the high-end digital cameras, but those come with a "Professional" price which I wouldn't be happy about paying for. Yes, the EF lens mounts...

looking for a GOOD digital camera

Nick, I just (February) purchased a Canon Digital Rebal 6.3M from E-bay. Came with stock 18-55mm lens. Ended up costing me $329.75 with shipping. EXCELLENT CAMERA!!! Many people are upgrading to the XTi right now, and selling their old 6.3M cameras. The main thing is, it is a true SLR...
