I remember reading about Kreisel tanks, and thinking "OUCH!!! $$$$$" !!!!
Not sure what your setup is, and I'm sure you have already done an extensive amount of research on this, so please give us more information on what you have, and by all means PICTURES!!!! :D :D :D
I have always heard that acrylic tanks "require" full support under then, because the acrylic "may" sag. I don't have any prof on this, just what I have heard and believed...but we all understand how in our hobby, rumors can often be untrue...so I'll be following along with you on this.
Lee,
You have always been extreamly helpful, and I have always appreciated your insite in helping our fish. Definately a well deserved reward here for you!!!
CONGRATS!!! :D :D :D
I would agree with Mike. Sounds like stress related to water conditions. Even though you have a Fish-Only tank, I think its possible to get your Nitrate level much lower than 20, and this may help these smudges you are seeing.
I would say to up your water changes to 20%-25% weekly, and...
I recently purchased a Canon Digital Rebel (300D). This was Canon's original Digital camera. True, it only does 6.3Mega-Pixel pictures.
I have found, those 6.3M are MORE than enough resolution for me to get wonderful pictures! The price (I purchased mine used...because soooo many people are...
I am intrigued that this is derived from Natural Sea Water... with the H2O & Sodium removed, which is leaving the magnesium (and possiblly small amounts of other trace elements???).
So, Don... you basically just had to do some "trial & error" with dosing this, until you found the amount that...
Boomer,
I've been following this thread some here, and from your last response, I'm unable to tell if you like the idea of using Nigari, or don't??? Mind further comment on its usage???
It is also possible to just about any "connector" for your 1/2" tubing... and in that connector you drill a small (1/8") hole, and let that be your syphon break.
I happened to have a box of old RIO piece parts... and in that box I found my 1/2" connector, that had a "T" for an airline (possiblly some idea RIO had to use as an injector for one of their powerheads???). Thats what I used.
I know... I know... a lot of help that ended up being for you...
I agree with Don. I installed an airline "T", and just use that as my siphon break. Yes, when the pump is on water does come out of that "T", but not with any huge pressure, and it keeps any siphoning from happening as soon as the motor stops.
Your idea should work just fine.
I would concider using eggcrate for your platform that is about 2" up from the bottom. It is cheaper than acrylic, and easy to cut to the shape you need. It also won't have as much surface area for any residue Lime to settle on.
Just a thought.
Fish hook... least amount of stress, and what I've had most success with. Don't feed for a night, then next night, almost as soon as the hook hits the tank, you've got sushie! :D
I learned early, that anything I buy for my tank is always "about $20". I'm sure she knows better, since that is ALWAYS the answer I give her when asked... but as long as I notice when she gets her hair cut, or nails done... all is good! :D :p :D
