    Live Rock Theft

Man, that sucks for that guy. It would take quite some time to retrieve that much rock from the ocean floor. He should have had someone checking on the rock while he was tending to family matters.

To drill, or not to drill....

Yeah, thats what I was thinking. (One on either end.) If I opt to go the powerhead route I would want to use two MP40W's on reef crest mode for flow. Additionally, down the road I would put my returns through some sea swirls to add a little more random flow. The last time I had my tank set-up...

To drill, or not to drill....

gotfish - If you turned off your k3s and just ran the mp40, how does the flow do across the tank? luke33- Yeah, I think you linked to those somewhere else on here. I know I've seen them before and think you were the only one who referenced them. (Even though someone just posted something in...

    Equipment Fire

I use the Prime 6-Outlet Cord which has a nice long 15ft cord. Metal housing so you dont have to worry about it melting, as well as individual outlets. I have all mine connected to a GFCI for added safety.

    My 180 tank

Glad to see you still have some of my corals alive. ;) You should post some pictures of your filtration room/system old man. People would be interested in that too...not to mention the oscillating motors you made for your Koralia powerheads. Those are some pretty good photos though Myron...

To drill, or not to drill....

Sarang, That set-up is pretty sweet. One of my reasons for considering the closed loop was to get rid of the wires and the powerhead on the glass....which that does both. I've been looking for some good video's of Vortech pumps on a 6' tank but haven't had much luck. (Other than a couple of...

    Cleaning bottom of sump ideas

What I would do is drop a maxi-jet in there with some 1/2 ID vinyl tube on the output into whatever container you use. Works great.

To drill, or not to drill....

So here's the deal. I am working on getting my 125 back up and recently purchased a brand new All-Glass 125 RR dual megaflow tank. The back wall is 3/8" thick. I have the right drill bits, and have drilled several tanks, so messing up the holes are not of any concern to me. (Knock on wood.)...

    Closed loop question....

You should have enough returns to cover the flow of the Barracuda pump. Now you just have to mess around with the configuration until you get what you want. I am working on setting my 125 back up and plan on 5 returns for a ReeFlo Dart. That amount of returns can easily handle a...

Good news for all you Breeder owners . . .

I drilled the bottom of mine a year or so ago. No problems what so ever. FWIW their pdf file outlines which tanks have tempered bottoms and which do not.

    Closed loop question....

If you only have two returns on the edges of the tank then you'll need several more. Your closed loop pump is rated at 4,500 gph. 3/4 locline can handle 1,140 GPH So you'll need at the minimum two more returns. Also take in mind that when you use the 3/4" Y that doesn't allow for 2x1140 gph...

    Roscoe's 270g build

Nice rock work. Must feel good to have everything set-up after the set back of having the tank crack on ya.

    10g tank into refugium...

Drill the 10 gallon on the side. Put an elbow on the bulkhead, this will act as an overflow. Then you can choose to use a small powerhead to feed the tank, or you can gravity feed from your tank's overflow and you wouldn't need a powerhead at all.

    My 24 gallon horrible tank

Since you do not have a skimmer on that tank to remove nutrients and aerate the water, do you have an air pump running on the tank? I'm not too familiar with nanos, but oxygen levels in the water is something you typically wouldn't test for. Then again you would notice something is up when the...

Fed Ex Goes Above & Beyond

I agree with Octupus. Same with where I work. Service is gauged based on customer feedback. Its best their managers know the effort they went to in delivering service above and beyond what is expected. I used to have a friend that worked at UPS. He would call it United Punch & Smash. Heard...

    Petco coupon - $5 off $25 or $10 off $50

Yeah that Petsmart shipping deal is a steal. I paid 1.50 each bag for shipping 4 40lbs bag of Caribsea sand. The entire purchase was like $123 tax & shipping.

    Where to get Base Rock?

Kirk, After seeing the Key Largo rock from Marco Rocks on Daily Drivents 40 breeder build me and my step dad picked some up. Nice rock. You get some good sized pieces and its some pretty nice base rock.
