    That familliar snapping noise.

I initially tore down my tank because I did not know if I had mantis or pistol ... the former being very bad! But I did not want either in my reef (I know, I know.. some people like them... I don't). The sound was driving me nuts~ There is a way to distinquish between mantis and pistol shrimps...

How Do You Maintain Ca and Alk?

I chose "other" since I use kalkwasser for all evaporated top off and I also use a true sodium carbonate (baked- baking soda) as needed to keep alkalinity up.

    ~Fish Trap~

I did modify the trap. It used to have 2 acrylic hangers that would allow it to hang from the top of the tank. I took them off because I was having much better luck with catching the fish on the bottom and they kept getting in the way.

    ~Fish Trap~

I have had several inquiries as to how I catch fish in my reef so I wanted to share this with everyone. With the exception to pistol shrimp and clowns that stay within inches of their host, I have used this trap to catch any and all animals in my reef. I hope you find it useful~~

    cleaner shrimp stealing food

My two cleaner shrimp are thieves too. Try feeding the shrimp more than one little piece. Fill them up first and then feed the anemone. They will stop eating when full. Another option would be to cover the anemone until it is finished eating; I don't recommend this because a hungry shrimp...
