    setup of Ca reactor

Gages should be fixed, no adjustment needed. The effluent is set at a point to keep up with the tank demands. You need to know how much your tank uses up. (mine is a constant drip) The PH should be set at a point where it dissolves the medium you are using. My PH is at 7.0 Count the bubbles per...

    blk sea urchin

I had a black long spine that would eat my coral if it found it.

    red alge on my sand

Is it furry or is it flat? Slow down on what ever you are putting in the tank. Or please give us a list of what you are adding to your tank on a daily basis. If you don't bite this now it will discourage you real soon.

    another feeding question

Wow If you just started doing this I would stop and re-think it. 3 cubes twice a day--- too much for that skimmer and your rock. I have a 110G tank (140G total) system with a Ati BM 160, 100 pounds of rock and I feed 1 cube a day alternating cubes daily and cyclopeeze daily 30 gallon water...

    skimmer

Here is the basics of a skimmer Air and water :D Well bubble size, air volume, water process volume, and the good ol hands in the tank issue, feeding and so on all affects a skimmers output. If you have air bubbles it will get gunk out. Water level- Level to high it will flood Level to low...

Well that will feed the ones you have and make them happy and.. reproduce. They starve to death if they don't have any food. Its kinda like bristle worms. The more you feed the more you have.

    Elos test kits

I use all Elos kits Except the DKh kit which I still use Salifert for that. I would have to say that Elos is a lot easier to use. As in the PO4 kit. May be a little more accurate but I Don't know if that warrants the cost of the Elos kits. I pay the extra for the ease of use and test...

    PODS PODS pods

Well I make sure I feed something with small particulate food to help feed these guys. I do it in the morning when the lights are off and they are out. I turn off my closed loop pump so the food will settle. I do this 3 times a week. Works like a charm. Oh and I do 5ml to my 140 gallons of water.

    lighting question

I would say that 500W will be better than 400W especially if you do 2 luminarcs for your 250's ;)
  16. twilliard

    bristle worms

Your feeding habits will dictate the population. They help keep the rock cleaned out too :D

    Setting up a CA reactor

Easiest way to get it running without killing things- **Do NOT connect the CO2** Go ahead and set it up as you think it should go. Plug it all in and get that water running through the reactor. Get the effluent running Let it run for a few days, a week, how ever long you feel it needs to show...

How do I use a TDS monitor?

Its always good to know if you are running a 0 on your freash water. Does it look like a big pen or does it have wires on it?

    Stagnant Saltwater Bad??

I would leave your PH right there and just keep doing your normal water changes. If there was anything bad about the water it has already done its toll. Your water changes will bring it all back to normal.
