What has happened to my tank??

If you think there is any way that it released toxins, start running carbon and do as large of a water change as possible, even a complete water change if need be. I think I remember reading that when sea apples die they can release toxins and kill a reef tank, not sure if that is related to...

    Sick Pally or angry?

Oh man, I hope you don't have what I had, although we have not traded zoas in quite some time. When mine got "sick" they closed up with their skirts hanging out, different than what yours look like closed. Good luck, may the force be with you!

    Starting fish

Yes, a clown fish is a pretty hardy fish as a first addition. Also, a small blenny, such as a tailspot, would make a good first addition, and since we do not know the tank size, both "should" be fine in any tank larger than a 20 gallon. Neither above fish should cause any future problems with...

    ajnweb's Solana

Always thought that they were a cool fish. Also, since I was fighting an algae problem, which I thought mught be due to my tendency to overfeed, I thought a frogfish would be perfect. No overfeedings, just a live fish every couple of days, not sure if it will work out algae wise, but I am hoping!

    ajnweb's Solana

Good news along the frog fish front. After just 2 feedings he seems to already recognize the white net as dinner. I place a feeder fish in the white net and place the net around/over the frog fish. This morning the frog fish got very excited when he saw the feeder fish, and started to flash...

Alot of the zoas are out of the frag tank. The rest of the fish made a return trip to the LFS to be re-homed.

    ajnweb's Solana

Well I am hoping, it has appeared to have stopped. Anyway, I did just about everything I could think of, figure I might as well get on with things and let nature take its course, good or bad. :)

Updated tank pics / frog fish Well, I think the zoanthid outbreak is over. I was also battling a maroon turf algae, so I completely re-did my rockwork. I also added a new small black frog fish, he is only about an inch long right now, I don't think I have actually seen his eyes yet, just kind...

how do i get rid of these crabs!!??

I recently removed all of the emerald crabs out of my tank using am empty starbucks iced mocha bottle. The bottle is glass, has a tapered neck with an opening about 1.75" across, perfect for catching crabs. I filled a mesh media bag with some frozen fish food and placed it in the bottle, then...

    warfare question

Also, from experience, I would try and keep the GSP isolated on their it's own island rock. Otherwise, it will spread and eventually cover all of your live rock, and other corals. Also, if it is on its own rock, as it tries to spread across the sand you can just cut the purple rubbery mat with...
