Ilovereef's 270 galons SPS (tons of pics)

Just wanted to give a bump to the most beautiful SPS reef we have seen and to one of the nicest hobbyist we've met so far. :) How's the tank? I would say it has been over a year since we were supposed to come by and pick up an Oregon Tort frag lol Dan (Electrician Guy) and Angel (His Silly Wife)

    de-humidifer recommendations

Recently moved to a new house and we have set-up our 75 gallon in the finished basement room. The tank already produces humidity, so I am researching into de-humidifiers. Does anyone else run a de-humidifier? Any recommendations on a reliable and good working one? I'm hoping to set up plumbing...

I use bifuran+ to dip my zoas when it looks like they are getting a fungus of some sort, but I noticed it has a carcinogen material warning. How nasty is this stuff?

Best Protien Skimmer for my 180g tamk?

I have a SWC, and I love it. You can purchase a mod (I think it's like $30?) and overpower them if you want too.

    About to move, substrate?

+1 vote for BB. I miss the visual of sand, but that thought quickly disappears when I see people's tank with junk all over the sand. Sand is only great when it is clean and pretty! And it is a bitch to keep clean. I do not miss siphoning my sand at all.

just starting and feeling a little dumb....

I would not skimp on cheaper LEDs. From what I've seen and the experience I've heard from others, cheap leds are not very effective. That being said the debate on LEDs vs. MH&T5s can swing many ways. Weighing what's best in cost effectiveness and what's best for the corals is where you have to...

just starting and feeling a little dumb....

Welcome to Reef Frontiers! :) Looks like you're trying to get your lighting figured out. I personally love my T5s and MH, so now its all about the right price and amount of watts per gallon. I agree with another person on this thread that a sump is really nice. I would say good filtration is...

New red paly, Valentine's Day Massacre?

It seems like a lot of people have trouble with these melting on them. From what I've seen so far...they are so slow slow growers. It'll be an exciting day when mine decide to finally pop a baby. *fingerscrossed*

    Recipe for Oxypora "chalice" recovery?

Chalices tend to like low light, low flow. Also, test your alkalinity. Alkalinity swings are killer. Good luck!
