    Bangaii Cardinals

They wont fight until they reach sexual maturity. I never kept them long enough to get to that stage.

what are the least aggressive clown fish ?

Heheh.. I had a pair of fire clowns that would draw blood every time I went into the tank. They would go through 3 layes of fish bags to get to me. IME, the least aggressive would be skunks, then percs or ocellaris

    Bangaii Cardinals

Raising banggai is much much easier than raising clowns. Poppa holds on to them long enough so that when he does release them, they are able to eat baby brine shrimp right away. Hatching brine is super easy. Especially when compared to rotifers and phyto.. They wont survive without any...

Is this Kenya Tree or something else?

It appears to be a Colt coral...Cladiella

    Acropora Humilis

    A. humulis is a coral that is often found exposed at low tide. Give it with as much light as you can (acclimate ) and good strong flow is also good

    black clowns

Amphiprion ocellaris Ocellaris; False percula Usually found in Darwin Australia. Most are tank raised with a good portion coming from ORA, and some recently coming (tank raised) from Australia

    Salinity

No, it wont damage your corals at that level. especially if it just creeped up and wasnt drastically changed from 33ppt to 37 ppt. There are areas where the salinity is naturally 37ppt. The red sea for instance. Tide pools often climb that high throughout the day. Im not recommending to keep...

    Maroon Clowns Losing Host Anemone

I will agree with what everyone is saying Re: they dont need an anemone. but a few things that I disagree with here. Some would call it stimulation. I keep quite a few anemones, and to use my giganteas (a species that is notoriously difficult to keep) as an example, seem to look very dismal in...

    fraging a carpet anenome

wht type of carpet? (hadoni? gigantea? mertensi? Helinthus?) I know that E. quadricolor is an easy anemone to "frag" but they split naturally. Has anyone successfully spilt any of the hosting carpet anemones? I know of one person that had SOME success with a mertinsi, but one half eventually...

    Thoughts on DTs Plankton

Below is a link to an independent study on feeding clams and growth rates using some of the various phytos on the market.. According to that study, there is one brand on the market that actually showed higher mortality rates than clams being fed nothing at all (shown in graph 520)...

    Do softies need calcium?

Softies dont use calcium, (but your hammer (euphyllia) will.) Your calcium should be at 380-450 (420) and Alkalinity at 8 (2.9) Since they work with/against each other and alkalinity levels are as important as as clacium levels, its important to monitor both.

    Bulkhead/standpipe assembly question

I wouldnt silicone the bulkheads at all, They werent designed to use silicone. Silicone will eventually break down the rubber gasket. Silicone wont bond to plastic or rubber. Also, if you need to re-seat the bulkhead, the silicone can "get in the way", and/or be a pain to clean off.. If...

    Dictyota Algae

If your tank is large enough, most Foxface rabbit fish will eat it, and my blond naso also eats it, but as with anything in this hobby, it can be "hit or miss" Good luck

    My CLOWNS SPAWNED!

I probably dont have the experience that Elmo does, but I'll take a stab.. I have raised a few thousand onyx clowns,a few skunk clowns, fire clowns, and tomato clowns, and a lot of Banggai cardinals back in the day 7-10 days depending on the temp. I wouldnt even bother with this first...

From the pic, I would also agree that it is a porities sp. Which one?? I dont know. I dont even positively ID acros from pics even when I am fairly certain of the species.

    merulina

I call it an LPS. . ... no coralites . I think most others would call it an SPS due to its (most common) branching structure

    Feeding dry seaweed

Be sure to look for the Raw, or un-roasted. The roasting process make the seaweed not as nutritional. Roasted is better than none, but unroasted is better than roasted

    diatoms still a problem

Diatoms and dinoflagellites are two different things. Most say that Dinoflagellites will feed off of the (unnecessary?) trace metals in new salts, therefore no water changes. If dinoflagellites are what you have, I would run carbon aggressively (in a canister filter, where water is forced...

    diatoms still a problem

Diatoms feed primarily on silicates. Are you using RO/DI, or just RO? You mention slime.. When people mention slime in the same breath as diatoms, its usually dinoflagellites and not diatoms. Do your "diatoms" look like brown stringy snot with air bubbles trapped in them, or does it look more...
