    Stichodactyla Gigantea Anemones...recent happenings

it might have something to do with the 14 day guarantee that LA offers :). I agree. Please do some research before purchasing a gigantea anemone.

    What is an onyx clown?

Actually they were developed by Bill Addison of SeaQuest. Not ORA. I an nearly certain that the ones that LA has are wild caught from PNG.

    Bug? Id

Like this one that I found. It stretched to an easy 7'. I dug that out of a 4 foot tank (72 bow), and broke it into 3 pieces. After the first 2 pieces broke, the worm still stretched across the back of the tank and partially up the sides. Cool but a little creepy!

    Anemone color

It may not be regurgitating, but the large pieces are still not good for your anemone. Their digestive system isnt the best for digesting large pieces. They often expel more energy than they gain while trying to digest... An occasional larger piece of food isnt going to kill them but it isnt...

Blue Hippo - MHLLE tank size vs. light quality

:) A little carrot is nice for the provitamin A carotenoids. which will also help with HLLE and coloration of the fish :D

Blue Hippo - MHLLE tank size vs. light quality

Vitamin C deficiency is the first thing that came to my mind. Broccoli is high in Vitamin C and most tangs love it. It has been proven that Vitamin C helps with HLLE. I know that Lee is not a big fan of land based foods (from another thread that I couldn't post in) in our tanks, but sometimes...

    ZeroEdge Aquariums Now Available!

I have been around these tanks for a long time.. Yes there are 2 sides to clean on each panel, but its very easy access. IMO they are as easy (or easier) as any other acrylic tank to clean.

    Anemone looking bad :(

It has been a few years since I have been there but Inland Aquatics is probably my favorite shop that I have ever been to, and I have been around awhile :). Yes, those clowns came from my pair. My pair originally came from Inland 8-10 years ago.

    Anemone looking bad :(

I knew that I recognized those clowns :D. If I remember correctly, they are about 9-10 months old. You are lucky to have one Inland Aquatics near by. Great Place!

    Anemone looking bad :(

I saw it too. Yes it was somewhat bleached and it has regained its zooxanthellae, which is good, but the slight lack of density in its "tentacles" tells be that the anemone is still hungry. Maybe that occurred after bleaching and they will thicken up now that it has more zooxanthellae to feed...

    Sick acro----help id

Im not sure whats going on, but IMO, I dont think AEFW are the culprit here. I cant see any AWEFs. The tissue is sloughing off, which usually isnt associated with AEFW. And usually with AEFW the tissue has a molted appearance that I am not seeing.

    What is this?

it appears that it may be a species of Halymenia. Good or bad depends on if you like it or not :D. I wouldnt consider it a nuisence. I dont know of anyone ever having issues with it getting out of control. Its often short lived in our tanks

    Help, surprise baby clowns

they appear to be mysis shrimp. Not baby fish. Leave them in the sump and they should continue to reproduce, providing food foryour system.

    RBTA or RLTA?

Hi Nikki, I pretty much agree, but also know that people will still keep anemones, so my advise to add an anemone to a tank without a lot of corals vs a tank that is loaded, is good advice. Atleast its better than not offering any advice to someone that is goingto keep an anemone reguardless...

    RBTA or RLTA?

I think my original post was misunderstood. First and foremost I do agree that setting up a biotope system for anemones is the best option, BUT that can be said for most of the animals that we keep in out tanks. The problem is, most/many dont have the option to set up different tanks for all...

    RBTA or RLTA?

I should clarify. I shouldn't have said established reef, but more so an established tank, meaning that it has gone through most of the major cycles (for 6 months to a year) I also said to add it to a tank that is not loaded with corals. Again, I said to add before adding corals. There is no...

    RBTA or RLTA?

Hello Anthony, and all First let me say that I am not recommending that anyone (especially those that are newer to the hobby) plop an anemone into their reef, because that can and will sting. The symbiotic relations between a clown and anemone is what draws many of us into this reefing hobby...

    Clown Eggs Deaths

I dont measure the dosage. I dont even know what the recommendations are. I just squirt until the water turns blue. I have a batch that will be ready to hatch this weekend (after a 3 month hiatus). I will try to remember to note how many squirts I use, and then post here.
