    Majanos or Aiptasia?

    I was just in the LFS and saw tons of the one in the first picture. They were identical with the red tips and all. I bet they do spread fast because there were lots of single ones here and there - but then there were rocks that had whole colonies on them, too.

    wow. That does help. I guess I was getting nitrification and de-nitrification mixed up. I do know the difference, but was just forgetting it for a minute there. So, I see that the sand would not help in lowering nitrates much. I have never attempted to vacuum the sand - I just assumed it...

    Ok, I'm a newbie and don't know what I am talking about - but I always wondered why no one talks about a "moderate" sand bed :) It seems to be either bare bottom or DSB, not much talk of inbetween. I have a one to maybe 2 inch sand bed. I am hoping it helps somewhat with nitrates, although...
