    Sneak Peak of new tank!

here is a link for the lights I used - they are more yellow than I initially thought - with my PC actinic supplements the color is perfect - without them it is too yellow. If you are looking for halide type brightness you will be dissappointed. But if you are doing a FO tank this beats the...

    Sneak Peak of new tank!

Larry from IAP came all the way over from Bremerton yesterday to fix the leak in my overflow box. Thanks Larry! Now if he can get moving on my sump! :) Depending on how quickly he can finish it I should have everything plumped by the 1st of the year.

    A few new fish pics

Hey Mike, You happy with dealing with that marine aquatics joint? I am thinking of getting some stuff from them for my own tank - they seem to have some pretty cool stuff but have never dealt with them before.

    Sneak Peak of new tank!

Thanks Kevin, Now I know to clean those things! Coolcol, I guess you need to decide what type of tank you want! Reef or fish only. I wouldn't mix the LR with the fake corals. Then you are going to be dealing with keeping the LR alive and the fake corals clean. My lights will be on very...

    Sneak Peak of new tank!

Thanks Tom, Larry from IAP is going to come over from Bremerton and use Weld On 40 to fix it on Thursday, which is pretty awesome. Plus I would rather have a pro do it then try it myself. I'm not too upset about it. These things happen and Larry is going out of his way to get it fixed in a...

    Sneak Peak of new tank!

No they are fairly heavy so I just set them in place - that way I can remove them if I ever need to give them a thorough cleaning. Still deciding on what to keep - probably a bamboo shark, a zebra moray, a puffer, some kind of wrasse, a couple of angels and a couple of tangs. Haven't decided...

    Sneak Peak of new tank!

We filled up the tank with tap water to test it - good thing too. Two problems with the set up so far. First, the upper trim is above the water line. So I need to take it off and cut about an inch off the side pieces to lower the top. You can see it in the pic. Not that big of a deal. The...

    Sneak Peak of new tank!

Kevin, As far as the skimmer goes, I really don't know the difference of the two! It is a MR-8. Andy at My Reef Creations made it for me. I will take another photo for you when I get home from work tonight of the molding.

    1250 gallon tank lighting???

Regarding Bill's tank...Holy crap! I just finished the trim on my big tank...the wood work is unbelievable. As is the rest of the set-up.

time for some updates... the skimmer and the tank with one actinic - I broke one....

    Sneak Peak of new tank!

The kelvin is stated at 6500K - they look much more like 10,000K. Tough to say until I see them running through water. Most MR-16 bulbs are around 3000K - way too yellow. I am supplementing them with PC Actinic bulbs to bring out more blue. Obviously they don't have the intensity of 250W...

    Sneak Peak of new tank!

The stand from the fish room The big beams go through the floor and are secured to a concrete pad in the crawl space. We are guessing about 9000 pounds.

    Sneak Peak of new tank!

Lighting I am lighting the tank with 8 50 watt Ushio MR-16 bulbs. They are 12 degree narrow spot beams that will give me that "shimmering" look you get with halides. I have two 8 foot tracks so I can move them around and highlight certain points.

    Sneak Peak of new tank!

Tank goes into new home tomorrow So far the hard part was finding 10 strong friends that can be coaxed with pizza and beer...

    Sneak Peak of new tank!

The corals were more than the tank! My last tank was an SPS/clam tank. I am looking foward to being able to keep some fish that I couldn't before. Plus a reef tank at this size really isn't feasible cost wise. This tank is 4 times bigger than my old one but will be less maintenaince and...

    Sneak Peak of new tank!

Still deciding my fish list. I have a problem with impulse buying fish and overstocking. Really trying to avoid doing that this time around. So far I am pretty set on - zebra moray eel - some kind of puffer -golden, mappa, etc. - naso vlamengii - naso brevirostris - personifer angel - grey...

    Sneak Peak of new tank!

The tank is 10 feet long, 3 feet high and 4 feet wide. It came from IAP - they just delivered it today. The stand and hole in the living room wall is going in next week. I still have to order a sump but am waiting until the tank goes in and the stand to be finished so I can nail down the size...
