    Hermit crabs eating coralline ?

My hermits don't eat it but I have some starfish that do. Also removing a rock with coraline on it from water wil somtimes cause it to bleach and then later some back or dissolve in my experance. Might be just parts of the cycle with a new tank as well.

    Looks like ick, this sucks.

I am not saying it will cure ich, its still there in the tank for sure but the fish just might have an immune system strong enough to fight it off. As for the odd foods its all still protien, starch or fats. Just in a different form. All I am saying is don't rip people down for having a...

    Looks like ick, this sucks.

Steve I think whats probaly happening is that his tank does not cure ick or any other problmes except one. By providing a more healthy low stress natural envirnment it likely allows the fish's immune system to strengthen and fight off what ever is infesting/infecting it. Nothing more, nothing...

    ID Please Starfish

The ones I have are tan with blue/green markings and they pretty much eat Canyo, Coraline, Diatons, and any other non filimus crap is in my tank. Never touch my polyps which some of these starts are reported to do. All I know is since i stoped trying to kill them off, I have not had to scrap...

    Looks like ick, this sucks.

No this is a first for me. Hell i have never quarentined any thing in my tank before. A quick read last night said to prep a tank with a 1.010 to 1.013 SG, with all the other parms equal to the display and then transfer the fish. Which is what i did. The tank has a heater, a piece of plastic...

    Looks like ick, this sucks.

I understand the issues and right now I am just treating the one fish that showed signs as a precausion. I do not intend to put all those fish in the QT tank at the same time. I may setup a few small tanks while I treat the clown. Then move all the fish out of the reef so I can let the life...

    Looks like ick, this sucks.

Well things are looking better this morning. The true clown has adjusted to the change of envirnment well, last nigth I was not sure as he starting breathing hard and acting frantic as soon as she hit the hyposalinity quarintine tank. But after and hour or two the white spots dissapeard and...

    Looks like ick, this sucks.

I just cleaned out the old 10gal the reef was once in and am setting it up as a Hyposalinity quarintine tank. Might go get a second since one of the little clown gobies is being bullied but the biger one as needs its own home anyways. Putting both clowns, one True & one False, the two clow...

    Looks like ick, this sucks.

Ok I have had my share of the different problems associated with keeping a reef aquarium, fungal infections, aptaisa, Cayno, and the various algeas, but this one sucks. The little white spots just started showing up last night. and have increased as of today. What are my options on a budget...

Who runs a tank without a skimmer?

Up until this summer my tank was skimmerless. But now that i am pushing the stocking limit and feedig more and more I have found that the tank looks a little better with the skimmer, my nusiance algae is starting to reduce as well. I think with a light bio load and regular water changes...

What to use for the bottom!

Personaly i really like my Red Sea Reef Base. Its a light tan color, perfictly round and hightly. Light enough to boow around or be moved around bug ht fish, the sand sifting goby loves it, it won't lock togeather in to a brick and stays clean.

    Amphiprion ocellaris sick???

My True Clown once got spots not unlike yours. After rearrangeng my tank several times the clown started to host in a new soft coral. The spots were apparently a reaction to the new coral. They went away on their own in time. He had spots on the body and fins.

Need help: Anyone going to TriCities?

While I have no plans to go to Tri-Cities I do have the next week off, now through next wednesday, I might be up for a roadtrip. Thats about $45 in fuel. If you can't find someone already heading that way I might be talked in to running out there. Wayne

    Update on the Nano

Steve, Nice take, cleaning may be a problem with the rock up against the glass but all and all not bad. To get better pictures under that light, setup auto white ballance from a reference shot of the tank and then the yellow tint should go away, I found that worked well for me, under ageing...

Comment by 'Gimpster' in media 'Decorated Goby'

I have one of these, neat little fish, has dug caves all over my tank and is always changing the way the sand drifts, adds a nice effect to the tank.

    most benifical fish

Since getting my Decorated Goby my sand and rocks look spotless. There is absolutly no algea. The little guy sifts the sand, eats algea off the rocks, cruises for pods and has generaly improved the appearance and health of my tank IMO. As for eating benificial things in the sand, I am sure he...
