    New Coral Food - WOW

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but it was my understanding that "dead" phyto tends to "clump" together thus making it harder for some filter feeders to digest.

Cabinet for my ballast, chiller &......

I agree with this 100% , just raise it a couple of inches. The frag/QT idea is great.

    My Newest Addition

And if any of you think that Krish posts a lot now, wait until he starts packing in the SPS then we'll officially be Krish's Frontiers :D . JK, congrats on your new substation ;) Krish, hopefully you won't need it this year and hurricanes are not that big an issue. Those generators are great...

You can try one of these instead of a tang: Great algae eaters

    Algae Identification / extermination

Could also be rhodophytes or dictyota. These algae also thrive on low nutrient systems so manual removal is a must. This of course if my ID is right :D

    Photos under 20K XM's

Krish the first ID picture looks like an calcareous encrusting algae of sorts, the second pic sure looks like some sponge sI have in my tank. HTH

    Ideal Temperature

I've kept all my tanks (9.5 yrs) at anything between 80-83 degrees. IMO-IME it's more important to have no temp. swings of more than 3-4 degrees in a 8 hr. period.

    My New Metal Halides

What the hell are you talking about??????? Now you need to make that coral wish list, to start stocking that baby up :D I'm really happy for you, this has been a "heated" battle. "OMG that was as lame as i could get." :p

    Treated for Red Bug yesterday.

Tito what corals and bugs are you talking about? The bugs discussed here are Acropora Sp. specific parasites. And we are lucky to find an Acro colony after visiting 10 stores over here... ????

    Treated for Red Bug yesterday.

Hey Tito, where have you bought infected corals here in PR, so far the ones I've bought have been bug free. Sorry for the hijack guys!!

not sure if this is normal HELP

I would slow down a little for now. Let the tank/rock cycle for a couple of weeks. Changes you're experiencing are normal. I wouldn't add anything to the tank at the time including bacteria, there's plenty of die off coming from your rock to take care of that. As for the Purple Up, never used...

peladow- long term use good or bad?

Sorry you have been sick on top of everything else. You mentioned you had an algae outbreak, what did you do to take care of that? Your chem seems fine, other than Ca being somewhat low.

    My New Metal Halides

I was looking at your sump area pictures and IMO you need to find a way to let air circulate better in there. To me it seems too "enclosed". If the doors remain closed basically you're just circulating hot air in there with the fans. This mystery has me looking every direction Dude , I'm really...

    My New Metal Halides

I don't see how the pumps are the problem if you're running the pumps at nite and the temp is 78-79' ish. Unless I'm misunderstanding something from your posts, pumps should not be the issue. PD. You don't want the Tunzes me garbage is as good as yours :D

peladow- long term use good or bad?

I gather that you've lost some livestock, but could you be more specific as to what problems are you having? How are your chem. parameters, other than fine ;) ? What makes you wonder if it's the Peladow causing whatever problem you seem to have?

Thamarind Thai (Dang's) Tank - DIAL UP BEWARE!!!

I have been hearing about Dang's tank the last couple of days and other than the one picture in the current thread I had not had the chance to really appreciate the beauty of this tank. All I have to say is WOW!!! If there's a thread that deserves to be brought back from the depths of the...

    Softies= dirtier water?

The thing is I've noticed a "trend" to advise new comers to the hobby that if they can't have a nutrient poor tank it's Ok to keep softies and such because they "like" dirtier water. But honestly is it really the case that SPS need cleaner water or do they all need cleaner water. It seems that...
