    Wave makers

WOW!!! I just did that little mod to the kit I bought from Drs. foster and smith last week and it almost works to good. Not only is it a random flow but the flow also seems to have increased alot. It gives it a wider path and shoots it in different directions on start up. I first cut it with a...

    what do you think?

Wishworks. Nano tanks(29g or less) are easy to take of. It's true you have less room for error, but if your dedicated to the hobby and keep up on water changes then it's a snap. I've had my 10g running for almost a year now and the only bump in the road I have had is a heater sticking which...

    Wave makers

Also. Has anyone had one of these wavemakers long term? I would like to know how long the maxi's hold up to the constant on/off cycle? One of mine is quiet as can be, but the other buzzes a little. I think it might be cavatating(sp?) a little. It just needs to get the air out.

    Wave makers

I hear you Matt. I can imagine that many powerheads in a tank could distract from the display, but man does this thing work good. John. If you want a quick, simple, cheap and fast way to set up a wavemaker then I would recommened this unit, but if you have the extra money and want a cleaner non...

    Wave makers

I just got the natural wavemaker and 3 maxi jet pump kit from Dr. Foster and Smith. The thing is awesome and pretty inexpensive. Also it's a snap to setup. Just set the pumps where you want them and plug them. Then all you have to do is adjust the speed to your liking.

    Natural wave timer

Also the maxi-jets have the best hang-on system I've seen in a powerhead. It hangs nice and even and seems very tight. I can't wait to upgrade to a 20L so I can use all three pumps. On a side note. I had to already take the wavemaker apart do to a bit of loose solder in the powerstrip. That...

    Natural wave timer

OK. The wavemaker came in today and the thing is awesome. The only problem is it did heat the water a little, but a simple clip-on fan over the sump took care of that. Also it makes a slight "CLICK" when it starts, but so far the corals are loving it. I was a little afraid the 600 series...

    Kalk and polyp extension

I stopped using the #28 blocks now I went to kalk, but yes they do produce alot of calcium. I test once to twice a day until I find the right dosage then I'll probably go to once or twice a week.

    Kalk and polyp extension

I got into SPS about 4 month ago and always dosed with sealab #28 calcium blocks and buffered with baking soda. Last night I bought some pickling lime(I have never dosed kalk before)because my PH was falling and I couldn't keep it in check. I mixed 1 tsp of kalk with 1 gal of RO/DI and let...

    Natural wave timer

Thanks for the help katchupoy. :) Hey Brian. Really? I never noticed and I look at the used equipment every time I go in there. Go figure. I stopped in there yesterday to to pick up some kalk. I took the kids into town to watch the spongebob movie  so I stopped in. He has a nice looking...

    Natural wave timer

Hmmmmmm. Maybe I'll just have to step up to a bigger tank. ;) I thought about the SCWD, but this kit was the cheaper wave alternative. I've also heard to many stories of the SCWD clogging or making noise. Any truth to that? I'm planning on upgrading to a 20L soon so this unit would probably be...
