    thetedinator's 325g Semi-Cube.....

What would I do differently.... A larger overflow box deeper teeth. A Sequence Dart instead of the Barracuda One or two gray tomato bins instead of the acrylic combo sump/refugium There's probably more that I would change but it's all water under the bridge and I'm trying to focus on the...

    thetedinator's 325g Semi-Cube.....

When you hide a Tunze stream, you have a large pump to hide AND a long cable too! The long cable is a necessity if you are going to place them anywhere but on a back wall but it sure is a pain trying to make them unobtrusive yet easily retrievable since the pumps require regular maintenance.

    thetedinator's 325g Semi-Cube.....

Since spring of this year I have had a bad hair algae and slime algae break out in the main tank, a cyano problem in both the sump and refugium, and now some kind of algae problem again in the main tank.

    Nuisance Algae ID

I hope it not bryopsis. Some of it is stiff and wiry and scrapes off in clumps. Some of it is not as stiff and is more wispy (the tan colored stuff).

    Nuisance Algae ID

More info.... Some patches are brown, some red and some are tan. It is only in the upper 1/2 of the tank. System has been running for 20 months. Tank is bare bottom but I have a 240g sump/refugium on line with it. The refugium has a 5" DSB and a ball of chaetomorpha that would fill most of a...

    Nuisance Algae ID

All, It seems I am constantly battling some kind of algae. I got rid of my green hair algae problem only to then have a cyano outbreak in my sump and refugium. I finally get that under control and then this red/brown algae breaks out in my tank. I had one urchin in the tank which may have be...

    Kalk strirrers

The kakwasser stirrer/reactor and calcium reactor are complimentary. I run a calcium reactor to buffer the water by increasing alkalinity. I run a kalkwasser reactor to add calcium and raise pH. Kalkwasser stirrers/reactors are adding calcium hydroxide to the system. Calcium reactors are...

    Custom Filter Sock Tray

The water is dropping against the back edge, runs across the tray and into the socks. I actually installed the tray to tilt from right to left (in that picture). I will move the pipe to drop against the back edge by the right most sock.

    Custom Filter Sock Tray

Thought I'd show off my new filter sock tray. Designed and built by o2manyfish. It holds three 7" diameter filter socks. When I get lazy and the socks get clogged, the water overflows over the lip into the refugium.:) Pretty cool if I do say so myself. cya, Ted

    Play Sand In the Tank

I live in SoCal. I found a crushed marble playsand that is silicate free at a local HD. Chemically, crushed marble and aragonite are the same thing and is suitable substitute if you can't find "Southdown" or "Old Castle".
