RO/DI units;where did you get yours?
I have the 2 DI units in series for additional contact time...get clear ones so you can see the color change in the resins and you will know when they are exhausted. The only reason to use carbon on water at that stage of filtration is for taste....if your not drinking it, no need for carbon.- bobfnp

quarrantine/ treatment

I have a 1/10 hp chiller on my 55 gal tank and it does a great job, ...house got to mid 90's during heat wave and I was away on vacation... I still wonder about exposure thru hot tubs... I know plenty of people who have them indoors. I wonder if we are being harmed by this stuff? Must be a whole lot more than anyone would use in an aquarium. I personally am not contemplating ozone, just trying to learn more about it's use in...- bobfnp

Just a thought ... what about all those hot tubs people sit in that run ozone constantly, I certainly think that there would be warnings of some kind that this could hurt those with respiratory diseases if there was a possibility.... maybe those ozone generators are different? I have one also that is working very well. Mine was sent w/o a bypass valve to flow water over the membrane occaisionally to clean it off... I e- mailed them, and had one in my mailbox in 4days... good customer service... they also use GE Desal membranes which are the best you can buy right now...- bobfnp

Water top off ideas...?
Do you have a r/o unit always feeding the container before the kalkwasser? I believe my r/o came with an automatic shut off... still possible for the container to overflow if the float valve fauled.... maybe i'll just carry the water and re fill the container by hand...- bobfnp

Flatworms...
Help.... I just found what I think are 2 flat worms in my refugium...they look like little planarium... about 1 mmm in size... yellowish.... I've seen them infest tanks at my LFS before, it wasn't a pretty sight... what should I do... I have not seen any yet in the main tank.... just2 in the...- bobfnp

Water top off ideas...?
Thanks for the good ideas. I'll probably try the float valve with a gravity flow 5 gal container 1st as it doesn't rely on power. We have alot of power failures in my neck of the woods. I do have a whole house generator but if I'm not home it's not the kind of set up that will go on... has to...- bobfnp

What does anyone think of these units, beneficial to the reef or will they take away from it, Certainly I'd use one after mechanical filtration if recommended. reportedly they keep down the algal spores and parasites.... thanks, Bob- bobfnp
