Red bug population decreased by this fishes

Thanks, that's a good enough endorsement for me ;) I don't necessarily want to eliminate the red bugs. My tri-color seems to thrive with them... it's growing faster than my other SPS and has good polyp extension. But I have another acro that seems overcome by them.

    big question

I would think that your maintenance habits would eventually take care of any problems. It's most likely just hair algae. As long as you have a tang, rabbit, or something that eats it, you should be fine. It's hard to pass up a good deal. On the other hand, I've gotten flatworms, ich, and red...

What's the best way to catch a fish?

I was in the same situation... I had my picassos sitting in the sump, just waiting for the maroon to get evicted. Now the picassos are in the main tank and loving it. They've been "surfing" the powerhead for about a half-hour. I have a pair of scribbled rabbits that chased them for about 10...

What's the best way to catch a fish?

I finally caught my white striped maroon today!!! I had been trying different methods for 3 weeks... I tried fish traps, mirrors, and countless attempts at netting. I even went and bought a bigger net. Today I was determined to catch it. I went and got a hook out of my tackle box, removed...

    What next

When his fish died it surely added a ton of pollutants to the tank. Make sure your water parameters test ok before adding anything to the tank.

    Absolutely new to marine tanks

It sure is... don't stress about it. They are pretty easy to manage and eliminate. It looks like you got some good LR though. Make sure you read through the stickies up top. You have a lot of information to read and digest :)

    Nitrate issues

180 nitrates and your doing daily water changes in a 30G!?!?... it has to be from the the die-off of your inhabitants or your RO/DI unit is not functining properly. You have a nitrate factory somewhere. Maybe old filters or something. This won't help your nitrates, but I would try to change...

Anyone have success with porites and Xmas Tree worms?

I've seen differing opinions about Christmas Tree worms and porite corals. I just wonder what the experiences have been for people that have purchased them. I bought a nice porite rock with about a dozen worms on it. I dose DT's every couple days so I think the worms should get plenty of...

    Crazy Chromis

I would pull it and quarantine it. Could have parasites or something. It's definitely suspect and you don't want whatever it may have spreading to your healthy fish.

    Reefing the next 20 years

The market is growing and competition is increasing so prices should drop. I've only been in the hobby for a few years and I've seen large drops in livestock that is or can be propogated. Awesome lighting will be highly affordable because of LED technology. Hopefully there will be...

Setting up my very first saltwater tank, help?

Begin with the end in mind. You can modify your plans along the way, but try to get an idea of exactly which fish you want and exactly which corals you want. That will tell you how much light, flow, etc you will need. For example, if you like wrasses, you will need a deep sand bed. If you...

    Good fish day! - Picassos

I was pretty nervous yesterday because I couldn't get the clowns to eat. I tried mysis, flake, and even a little bit of ORA's pelletts. The pellets and mysis seemed too big. The flakes were eaten by the bigger clown but immediately spit out. This morning I offered some cyclopleeze. The...

    Too Much Chaeto?

I think biodiversity and pod production is more important than nutrient export, so I'll continue with my block of chaeto approach even if it may not be as effective at nutrient export.
