    Green Star Polyps?

Hello, There are several species of GSP (the down side of using common names) the most common being the bright green Pachyclavularia violacea. Other species can be white or reverse green centers of the stolons and white polyps. Changes of lighting will not affect the colour of these differences...

Dwarf Fu Man Chu Lionfish with an SPS Coral Aquarium?

Hello, With proper lighting on the macro algae you shouldn't have a problem with nitrates. I don't foresee water quality being a limiting factor in coral selection. Regards, Kevin

    Newly made water hazy

Hello, I have experienced the same several times over the years. The cause has been bad salt mix. One time it was with 150 gallons which I had to put down the drain. Lost the salt and DI water. Bad batches of salt occur with all brands. It has gotten better in the past couple of years. I go...

    Anyone know what this is?

Hello, It looks like it is receiving too much light and over time the whole coral will get very light colored. I prefer the darker color due to the contrasting polyp color. I have mine placed at the bottom of the tank (39" from the halide). The frags that are 26" from the halide are light...

    Sps setup help

I don't. I kind of threw it together in a hurry because I had to move it quickly. I do have pictures of the original build (March 2008) before it was moved. You might find it interesting. http://www.reeffrontiers.com/forums/f46/little-project-34349/ Regards, Kevin

Poll: How Long Have You Been "Reefing?"

My first saltwater tank was 100 gallon in 1984. From 1976-1979 I was breeding Discus and African cichlids. I got my first live coral in 1987 and the first halide and full coral reef tank in 1996. The picture below was taken in 1997 of my 90 gallon reef tank. I still have most of the corals...

    Sps setup help

Hello, Yes this is the correct forum. The most important things are water cleanliness and mineral content (CA, alkalinity, and MG). Proper water flow is also very important. Some pulsing and/or alternating current is desirable. Here is my tank from 1 year ago. I will make a new one in a few...

    too sensitive?

Hello, Some corals can be shocked more easily than others. The one you are referring to has been quite color sensitive IME although I haven't had any trouble with frags. I usually cut my frags with 6-8 branches and placed them in the same location as the parent colony. Smaller frags are always...
