    overflow

that would be smarter...but that means I'd have to drill a glass 10g tank full of holes to get it to drain right? i'm already going to have to drill 2 holes for the returns...i'm not even sure I'm ready for all that lol

    Help!!

is it possible that the 290g submersible pump I got along with the 100g submersible pump together are generating enough heat to raise my 10g tank temp to 83-84? i heard that high was really bad. I can't get it to go down. i'm not running any lights so that's not the problem. it's about 70-75 in...

    What color seaweed is best??

i think the green tastes good. the red has a very bitter flavor. but I prefer mine dried in a rice ball with a pickled plum. but that's just me.lol.I know from a chemical standpoint they are all mostly the same; but the brown and green have slightly more goodness to them. saw that on the seaweed...

    overflow

my idea was having the 2 holes in the overflow on a pump into the fuge, then the other 2 pumps to put the water back into the tank through the 2 holes. it's a 10g tank. i figured, as long as you pull as much as you push, it should even out to the same flow. the teeth on that box would run all...

What paint should I use to paint my background?

i used some rustoleum semigloss plastic/wood aerosol paint. 2 coats is about all you need for about 1 mil thick. after that I'll add some krylon high gloss top coat. i've painted glass, metal, plastic, rubber you name it,i've painted it. but I was using high$ paints w/guns. the spray paint you can...

i was messin around with google's sketchit prog, and I started thinking about how I'm going to take the powerheads out of my tank. anybody have any critiques? i was thinking about takin everything out of the tank, and just leaving those 2 holes with those bulkhead deals putting the water...

    new to salt,sand,rocks,water

painted the back today. don't worry about the water, I covered it up. I was a painter for over 2 years, so I do know what I was doin. except for I took the tank back inside right after I did, so I kinda smeared it a little, but you can't really tell. 100% better, it hides more of the cords...

i was just going by simple logic. hot water holds more suspended salt because of absorption. like gargling with salt water. best to do it with warm water because you can get more salt that way. we did a science experiment about it in highschool. i figured it was the same thing. you would get a...

if you can see, at the bottom front, the waterflow is so strong that it's moved the sand up to either side. i can see bare glass right there. and does anybody know where I can get a glass canopy, because i'm already getting some hefty evaporation.in that picture, it's exactly 24 hours old, and...

i was told not to use lighting for the first 2-3 weeks? the run to grandma's house is the only option for me to get water. no $ for an r/o unit as of right now. and so far I got 400gph,is that enough flow? 40Xph? would it be bad for the temp to go above 80? cause right now it's 81*.i'm not sure...

    Ca not California

calcium. I've heard you gotta have alot for hard corals to grow. you also gotta have a lot for inverts that need to grow shells. But is there a point which your calcium is too high? also, would putting a large shell in your tank leech calcium into the tank?
