Man it's getting hot in here!!!

I have the 4-5" fans running on my open canopy. 3 the air in across the tank water the 4th blows the air out. The air naturally escapes through the open top. There are also some small opening on the sides of the canopy. The fan on my sump is tied to the temp controller at the same 81 on 80...

Non Splitting RBTA, He's Big and Growing

I have the same RBTA growing too large problem in my tank, only mine has doubled in size in just a 2 month time frame. I may have to give back to the LFS soon as the thing is outgrowing my tank fast. I've already shuffled my corals around to keep them from getting torched. Was hoping the...

    Silicone

GE II is the more prevelant one at most big box stores. You need to dig usually to get the GE I. Don't use the GE II it's not aquarium safe as stated above.

    diatoms still a problem

what's your water source, how much are you feeding and what food are you feeding? Skimmer? Waterchange frequency/amount? Also might look to incease flow in the display. Most diatom blooms are nutrient and/or loack of flow driven.

    Miracle mud or live sand?

I have a fuge and run 5" DSB with cheato. Placed several small rubble rocks ontop of the sand for all the critters to hide/populate in. threw in some narsarrius snails, bristle worms and mini brittle stars at the beginning and it's a flurishing fuge. Have to trim back my cheato about 1x per...

    bristle worms

Put in a small coral banded shrimp. I have one in my 55 along with onyx clowns, gobies, royal gramma, red hawk fish, hermets, snails, pistal shrimp, emerald crab, skunk cleaner shrimp and a fire shrimp. The coral definately keeps my bristle worm popultaion at bay. In fact about every 2 months...

    Rowaphos dosage

check out at www.magnavore.com. I purchased from MarineDepot and like I said, I am very happy with the results. I've been running now in my phosban reactor for about a month and half. PÛRA Complete is an All-In-One media that provides the most complete aquarium pollutant control at low cost...

    Swimming sandsifter....

ah ha, yes, dragon gobies are natorius sand carriers. Common behavior my friend. Beautiful fish, but they disperse sand everwhere due to their hovering instincts.

    Rowaphos dosage

I simply ran the dosage per the instructions in my phosban reactor and actually had no adverse effects. I have since switched to Pura Complete which I run in my reactor and I'm having/seeing amazing results with.

90 Gallon Reef Plans. Drilling / plumbing advice, please?

If you do a closed loop, I'd drill 2 - holes for 1 1/4" bulkheads about 8" down from the top. Then I'd place 4 return holes for 1" bulkheads (if you look online at marinedeopt or other etailers under bulkheads, they tell you what size hole to drill for the size bulkhead you are purchasing)...

    sump/refugium question

15 for the 55 is minimum. I'd go with the largest you can fit under your stand. Make sure you purchase a skimmer that's maybe on the shorter side, that you can get out of your sump once under the stand. Also sumps are a challenge to get out once their in incase of maintenance. I'd opt for...

    PVC glue for my plumbing?

Don't give up! You should be able to narrow the problem down, especially with those here to help on RF. Might provide a quick run down of the quipment you have including the dims of the sump and how you have it all plumbed. Also siphon type/mfr so others with experience with the same equipment...

you'll want a larger tank soon! It's addictive! Actually it's an illness!

    PVC glue for my plumbing?

might have been the pvc shavings that clogged the impeller? Might pull the pump, clean and then re-install. Why did your floor flood when the pump shut off? Should be set up for power outage etc and not flood your floor.
