You know your a dedicated reefer when...

You know you're a dedicated reef keeper when... Every trip to the store means buying more paper towels...and your shopping list for the tank is longer than the one for your groceries You do the dishes 'cause you need the sink to clean the skimmer cup Your eyes get blurry watching 'pods...

    problem with my skimmer

Just a thought, I also have a Euro Reef skimmer and I occasionally have that difficulty. Do you run heated freshwater through the air intake tubing occasionally to dissolve the salt crystals that form there? I just dunk the end of the tubing (asjustment valve and all) in a cup of water and let...

Midcolumbia Saltwater Aquarium Club working on another Conference for 2007.

Myfin, Yes, I know I'll be having some difficulty with the heat. I've been keeping the place at about 65 degrees and at first, the temperature in the tank was rising above 80. I put a fan behind the fixture to help move the heat away from the tank and I also am leaving one half of the glass...

Myfin, I have an Aqualight Pro fixture from Coralife, the one with two 250 watt metal halides and two 96 watt actinics (and 4 lunar LEDs). I'm hoping that that's going to be enough lighting for some corals. I think I am also interested in mostly soft corals, at least at first. I have to...

Hello Myfin, Well, I have a 90 gallon tank with about a 30 gallon sump. Right now it's FOWLR/LS but I plan on having some corals, probably mostly soft corals (but you never know what might catch my fancy). The tank has only been set up for about seven weeks, and I'm watching my parameters...

How to retrieve fish from overflow?

I have an escapee! One of my two neon gobies must have jumped and landed in my overflow. (I'm sure glad I had the top covered.) I had been missing him for over a week and was overjoyed when i saw him as I was trying to do a little cleaning. My tank is an All Glass 90 gallon with an overflow...

Midcolumbia Saltwater Aquarium Club working on another Conference for 2007.

Please forgive me if this is not the right place to ask, but how do I join the Midcolumbia Saltwater Aquarium Club? I live in Yakima and your club seems to be the one closest to where I live. Also, please let me know what the dues are, etc. Thanks!
