Yellow Watchman Goby - Lip Damage?

Lee - Thanks for the info. I will definitely adjust my acclimation method as the one you describe is far more thorough than what I was doing. I always have the LFS check salinity and ph before I leave the store and then I do any minor adjustments using a brine, RO, vinegar, or a solution of...

Yellow Watchman Goby - Lip Damage?

Lee - As usual thanks for your input. The hypo is a precautionary treatment for 2 reasons: 1) I will be putting a convict tang in this tank at a later date and would hate for something to slip in in a dormant state. 2) The LFS just moved stores and i just felt this was a good idea. Am I...

    Drain to refugium?

I have split my drain to go to both the skimmer compartment and the refugium of my sump (center return section). Flow is controlled to both sections by ball-valves, and isolated by unions. My question is regarding the drain to the refugium. I have built a bubble tower to hold live rock...

    Water Storage

What you are looking for is something made from polyethylene. Rubbermaid Brutes are made from this, the same as FDA approved food/water containers.

    these hermit crabs rock

If you are worried about them starving, just put some turbos in there! I have a left-hand zebra that started out tiny (1/2" shell) and has killed a trocus and 2 turbos (he killed one of the turbos within 1 hour after I put the turbo in). Needless to say, this guy is now in a 1-1/2" shell, and...

    Convict tangs?

Thanks for the reply! In your experience or knowledge, should I expect full "in the wild" size tooccur in a home aquarium? Do you know a "typical" growth rate for this species or family? I am trying to determine what initial size to purchase, if I decide on this species. Thanks again!

Setting up a 100 gallon FOWLR, first aquarium

The 1500lbs seems like a very reasonable estimate, and with the stand and livestock weight, a touch on the conservative side, which is good. Do you have your floor joist spacing yet? What size timber?

    Convict tangs?

Thanks! I still have some time before I see fish in this tank. the stand is currently being built, then I have to get the sump/fuge done and plumb/wire everything. I don't plan on having water in it until likely May, and then it will be September/November before the 1st fish goes in. Thanks...

    "Non-mated" fish pairs?

In developing and constantly researching the stock-list for my in-progress 120 (4x2x2) fowlr, I keep leaning towards wanting a species that can be kept in pairs. I have only been able to really find one species that can likely be kept (throughout the duration of their lives) as a "non-mated"...

Developing stock list for 140 FOWLR

Lee - Thanks again for the input. I now understand what you are saying regarding the volume and the large Angels. I will likely stay with a couple of tangs and a compatible Centropyge or two. I really appreciate your help. Augustus - Thanks for your words of encouragement. Larger tanks...
