    Helping Kevin

OK people... please don't send paypal unless you have confirmed that the fish ARE available. We are already dealing with one person who has sent paypal for fish already sold. Also, please include a screen name with paypal so we can keep track of who is who... and a note what you are paying for.

    Bad Coral Banded Shrimp... Help!

I have one as well... been relegated to the fuge as its always been a pian in the hind quarters and was warned as such when I was given him a couple years ago. Lived quite well in my sump and out lived the Eel put in there to eat him as well... hasn't killed the chromis or the starfish yet...

    How's your parking area?

Might sound like a strange question, but I keep hearing about your place and would love to check it out. I'm going to be in the area tomorrow but I'm going to be delivering a car so I'll be in a 20+' truck and pulling a 25' trailer. How hard would it be for me to swing in?

small anemone 1/3 of inch ,neon green body, uneven skirt -good or pest

I have one that I sometimes suspect is a majano... has been with me for a couple years and never spit or moved since I set this tank up. Its pretty and multi colored so I ignore it. If I had some that split a lot I'd set up a tank for them.

    Sail Fin Tang or no?

I have one thats about 12" now... he is on the short list of the mystery fish that has made a few colonies of zoas disappear. Its amazing how small he can make a 10' tank seem small.

    canister filter

I was just assuming there would be rock/corals/sand etc in the display.

    canister filter

yes, but I have 1700 gallons and overfeed everything. A well balanced 50 gallon tank w/ live rock and a sand bed could be run quite well on something like a fx5 I believe. Decent about of flow, and lots of room to put stuff in it (basically an overglorified 5 gallon bucket lots of room for...

    Tank turned 41 years old

out of random curiosity... I turn 40 on Mar 5th...who's older... me or your tank.

    canister filter

Bah, yes they are older technologies, but a nice oversized canister filter that has regular maitenence (cleaning) carbon and maybe some rock rubble IS a sealed sump with a filter sock. Hard to put a fuge in there maybe, but a cheap HOB filter and a desk light does that quite well. I'm quite...

LOL read eared Slider in salt tank...

Mine has actually been in my sump once when I wasn't paying attention. seemed to be enjoying it, and even nibbled on some hair algea. The Iguana used to love my old tank as well until he found a better home while I was sick. To bad I don't think they would fair well long term...

Who here has electrocuted themselves with a tank?

Been zapped more times than I care to count. Used to work w/ some pretty high voltage when I could work, so I usually don't notice much less than a good 240 jolt.. I got my start in the industry as a welder in a shipyard... nothing better than welding in 6" of salt water in a metal hull.

Recirc vs stone vs 'all in one' skimmers

I already have a 80 gallon 120 cfm one in the shop, I suspect it would only have to run a couple times a day and it would be going through 2 insulated walls. My hearing is also horrible (to many years in the saw mills) I usually don't notice when its on unless I'm in the shop as it is.. so...

Recirc vs stone vs 'all in one' skimmers

How much of a filter do you think it would take to run one off the Air compressor in my shop... I'm sure it would be more of one than the oil/air trap I use for painting cars..

    white zoas?

The Zoas in the original pic have 'greened' up a bit but many still have white splotches or streaks in them. The brown w/ orange spots are coming in strong however.

    canister filter

Dending on your canister filter you could just use that as your return pump (I've done just that with an old FX-5 when I was in a pinch), and find any cheap tank that will fit in your cabinet. Even a huge tupperware tub. I still run a couple of canister filters, mostly for carbon as it is...

    My multi tank system

LOL... no, the 15 gallon one I upgraded from. Its rated for a system about 4 times yours though Its a Euro reef 750A

Recirc vs stone vs 'all in one' skimmers

I'm curious as to the opinions of various styles of skimmers. Mostly the recirculating skimmers (one pump for air/moving water and another for feed) VS the more modern all in one skimmers and then the good old school air driven ones. My opinion/thinking has been it made more sense to control...

    2 tanks 1 sump ?

I run everything off of one sump as well. I need about 75 gallons of space just for shut offs. Much easier to keep one system stable as well especially with something as fragile as tank for raising fry.

    My multi tank system

LOL.. do I have a skimmer for you.. You'll just about never outgrow it..J/K I have to agree about a system never being done. For me that would almost take the fun out of it.

    All about lighting

In reality WPG is almost as useful as inches per gallon. I was just being polite bringing it up. with a few exceptions 1/2 the light (par) on some of the modern lights is just the reflector. No idea how to bring LED in the mix.
