    Canopy build thread

I was asked to start a build thread with pics, so here you have it. I built my stand over a month ago, I have pics only of the finish stand. But, I do have pics of what I did yesterday and today to my canopy. The total height without the lid is 12". If my measurements are correct, I should have...

Mounting MH lighting to a canopy...

More pics. The lid will be made of pine with oak trim rather than oak for the lid. It's inexpensive and will not be seen since it's on top.

Mounting MH lighting to a canopy...

I started the trim and lid today. You'll notice that the trim looks thick on the bottom where the it meets the tank trim. I did that to match the trim on the stand. I wanted a robust looking stand, so I went with a 1 1/2" trim to make it thicker rather than the usual 3/4" trim. I also went...

    Diy stand and canopy

I was asked to start a build thread with pics, so here you have it. I built my stand over a month ago, so no pics on that one. I'll post pics of the finished product tomorrow or so. But, I do have pics of what I did today to my canopy. The total height without the hood is 12". If my...

Mounting MH lighting to a canopy...

Here's some pics of what I've done today. Total height is 12" without the hood. The canopy will sit right on the trim of the tank. I'll be putting on some trim to cover up the tank trim tomorrow.

Even with two fans blowing air across the canopy? Two others recommended 9" above the water. I went with that and started cutting wood today. I hope it works out. I'll try and post pics as I go.

Thanks Paul for the reply. Pardon my lack of knowledge, but where would I use the plastic or sealant?

Mounting MH lighting to a canopy...

I'm getting ready to build my canopy for my 65g setup. My tank specs are 48L x 22H x 16W. I need some advice on how high I should build my canopy. The retro kit is from hellolights and are dual 150w double end. Once mounted, the UV glass will be about 3" from the top of the hood. I will also be...

Need advice on a double end balast.

It's a good thing I asked before I bid on them. Thanks, you guys saved me a few headaches :).

Need advice on a double end balast.

I contacted Hellolights and gave them my tank specs. They recommended two 150's. I'm also installing two t5's, one 10k and an actinic. I guess electronic or magnetic would be another issue as well. Would there be a significant difference in energy cost?

Need advice on a double end balast.

I'm looking to setup my 48" long 65 gallon with a retro fit kit from hellolights and will consist of two 150w double end light fixtures. I ran into this ballast on eby and was wondering if anyone has had any experience with it. Thanks...

    Buffing and resealing acrylic tank?

I just did some minor work to an acrylic sump and used a couple of Weld On products that worked well. I used weld on #3 to glue some baffles and to seal a pump hole for relocation. The #3 is a watery glue, which I used to glue the pieces of acrylic and then went over it with #16 to seal a...
