    What's eating my pulsing xenia?

I guess the culprit has been found :) Turns out a fish I have was actually a Neoglyphidodon melas or Black Damsel, who happens to be quite fond of soft corals. Little stinker!!! Oh well, he does what he does I guess, I like my little purple fish. If anyone wants to get rid of their xenia or...

Tired of calling him my "purple fish"

I guess this would solve the question asked in my other post "what's eating my xenia?" ;) Looks like soft corals are definetely on the menu for this fish :( http://www.reeffrontiers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=16728

Tired of calling him my "purple fish"

Yes, I think it very well might be the Neoglyphidodon melas in the adult stage, although the name is misleading, as he's really a purple/blue color. Thanks for looking!!!

Appreciate your effort. I'm just a novice and it takes me twice as long to sift through info that's not relevant........

Tired of calling him my "purple fish"

I still have not found a positive ID for this fish. I'm sure he's in the pomacentrus family somewhere, but I'd like to know what he/she is specifically. I've spent a lot of time looking through fish indexes with no certain ID. The closest I can come is the creole damsel or pomacentrus...

    What's eating my pulsing xenia?

Yes, there is very little mircoalgae, as I have too good of a clean-up crew! I've watched during the day, and nothing has bothered the xenia at all. I have moonlights and haven't seen anything bother it after lights are out, but of course I can't watch it all night :) I suspect you may be...

    What's eating my pulsing xenia?

I used to have several nice clumps of pulsing xenia around my tank. I know some folks consider xenia almost a nuisance, as it spreads so quickly, but I've always enjoyed the pulsing "hands" Anyways, I've noticed over a period of several weeks, that the xenia has been getting "pruned" by...

    ID on this acro please

Thanks!!! It does break easy, see the 2 frags I stuck on the rock right next to it? I'll try getting it closer to the halides....... it's not directly under them right now. I can't believe it'll turn purple though......... hmph, I guess we'll see ;)

    ID on this acro please

Anyone know what this is? I'm assuming some sort of staghorn acropora? It was a freebie from a tank tear down and they didn't know what it was either. The polyps are greenish brown, not the prettiest thing, I know, but a fast grower!

    What is this?

This little guy has been slowly growing, not sure if it's a type of worm or algae? The base is calciferous, the top green part is softer.

    Anemone, aiptasia, coral...?

Looks like it could be a type of cup coral, there are many types. http://www.divebums.com/FishID/Pages/cupcoral.html

    Little clams in my 'fuge???

As I was transferring the contents of my refugium to my sump, I found about 6 of these tiny "clams" attached to my LR. They are about the size of a quarter, some are white, some are darker, and they open up about a 1/4" or less when things are calm. They are about the consistency of a hard...

Skimmer sucking more water than air

Ok, got it fixed....... it was the adjuster pipe, it was all the way up, so I put it at it's lowest spot, and slowly raised it and voila, perfect foam! I didn't even know WHERE the adjuster thingy was, although I assumed there was a way to adjust it somehow :) Thanks for your help!

Skimmer sucking more water than air

I've finally hooked up my sump and plugged my G2 skimmer in and all I can get it to do is suck in LOTS of water, but very little air It seems it's just not getting enough air to mix with the water properly, so then the collection cup fills with water. I bought this from a guy on ebay umpteen...

    Vacuuming sand bed

I have a 20g on my 75g tank and a 2g on my 38g tank. Both fuge/sumps have LR rubble, chaeto, a couple inches of sand and PC lighting. I have some nassarius and cerith snails in them too.

[QUOTE=J Thought I should have my alk between 7-11dKH, preferably 9. I was thinking you were talking 7 meq/L not dKH. Alkalinity should be between 8-12 dKH, from what I've read.
