I'm afraid so, divorce pending most likely.

    240 Donkey Tank

This tank is likely going up (all or nothing sale) in the near future, priced @ $6500. I will post a classified ad soon. Anyone interested, think it over!

    Base of coral receding

The base of the coral pictured above is still slowly receding. However some of the others are showing signs of improvement. All I've done is get rid of the floating algae on the surface, raise Mg to 1380, KH to 11, Ca to 420.

Yeah Ben that's the one. Growing very nicely until a month ago... well, it's still growing actually. Just not at the base!

    Calling all Hippo doctors

Todd, my hippo gets these "spots" from time to time. I think they are due to him wedging himself in the rock, or perhaps a bacterial infection. They always clear up within a few hours. This has been going on for over a year and I don't worry about it any more. Old thread on the issue...

    Base of coral receding

Thanks Kevin. The tank is just over a year old now so it may be time to do some of the more unpleasant maintenance tasks and check all the equipment over. Thanks everyone for your input. I'm going to clear up my algae slick on the water surface, lower the Alk, raise the Mg, scrape off those...

    Base of coral receding

Oh I see the "flatworms" you guys were referring to. Negative on that, it is some sort of algae.

    Base of coral receding

Heyyy... I have seen these. You can even see the little red tubes (sort of) in the first picture. I have seen mucus webs before and wondered what they are.

    Base of coral receding

I will lower the alk a bit. It's a little out of whack because I was fiddling with my reactor recently. My Mg is a little on the low side too; I tested last night and it's around 1190. I don't *think* low flow is a problem. I have a pretty big closed-loop pump and OM 4-way which seems to...

    Base of coral receding

Actually the color is fine IMO... the camera is really screwed up. Water flow I don't think is a problem either. My skimmer had gone without cleaning for many months but I took care of that last night, finally. Also I think I'll get rid of my large trigger, should help a bit. Water changes...

    Base of coral receding

All bulbs are about 6 weeks old. I was having problems before the bulbs were changed as well. However, now that you mention it I have been having a problem with an algae film on the water surface. Most likely it is hampering the lights.

    Base of coral receding

Unlikely I think. I have an Aquacontroller and Litermeter (topoff and automatic water changes) to keep these in line. The pH is a little on the low side, 7.8-8.0 during the day. But not the danger zone, I don't think. Here are some more pics. Sorry, my camera is broken and the shots are...

    Base of coral receding

For over a month now the bases of some of my SPS corals have been receding. Check out this picture: I'm kind of at a loss as to what might be causing this. Water parameters seem fairly normal to me: Alk 12.8 dKH, Ca 440, SG 1.026, Temp 79, NO3 ~3. The tank is 240 gallons (8x2x2') with a...

Deal on fuge bulbs at Costco

I saw a 4-pack of PAR38 120W fuge bulbs at Costco (Kirkland) for $8 after rebate. Good deal, I usually pay $11 plus shipping.... each!

Can Anyone Help with AC Jr Set-up??

Interesting. In my opinion, even if you didn't need anything on top of Aquanotes, I'm not sure the expense is worth it. To tell you the truth I don't use Aquanotes much, but then again I have the AC3 which has its own logging capabilities (can go back several days, which is good enough for me)...

Can Anyone Help with AC Jr Set-up??

If I recall the Ac Jr doesn't have a web interface capability. I did find this chart on the Neptune website that compares the capabilities of the various models (note lack of web server for the Jr model). I think this also includes email alerts, Aquanotes, and pretty much any...

    Building a stand

Sorry Tom, I didn't see your reply for some reason. If you still have it I'd love it, otherwise don't worry about it. Very nice. Not a bad price including the the wood, I'd say.

Every Reefers Worst Nightmare come true -Warning graphic photos

Generally I would agree with this. However there are certain things that are best not run on GFCI circuits because of the large startup current. Things like fluorescent ballasts, large motors (see the section on "Why a GFCI should not be used with major appliances" here). That being said I...

Every Reefers Worst Nightmare come true -Warning graphic photos

I wouldn't use a ground probe without a GFCI. This can be dangerous. Remember a ground probe is meant to protect you, not your livestock. Those GFCI power bars are better than nothing but generally unreliable IMO. This topic has been beaten to death I'm sure, but that is my take on it.
