Good day all,

Well over the last few weeks I have been slowly putting my tank together. I am on the home stretch but wanted to see what others thought about what I have so far.

135 gal tank (72x18 wide x 24 tall)
55 gal sump (converted an old 55 gal tank I had)
Custom stand and canopy
Bubble Magnus nac 6 skimmer
Reeflo external return pump (1700 ghp)
Cps over flow box (1500 gph)
Aquaclear 50 x 3
4 foot tri-bulb t8 fixture (2 actinic and 1 50/50)
2 8” led pendants ( 5 10,000k and 5 blue leds in each)
24” glo t5 fixture for the sump
Apex Aquacontroller + 2 x EB8's
dosing pumps (going with the basic triton method)
6 stage rodi system
100 lbs live rock
Waiting on my lfs to get my substraight in going with Caribsea special grade

It took me a while and it’s not finished yet but I think I have a pretty good base to start.

I know people are going to give me a hard time about the t8 fixture but it was free and it works.

Any thoughts anyone has would help for sure.

Pics of everything to follow

You gotta do what you can with what you got sometimes, Just take advantage of corals that can do well under these lighting conditions and you'll be ok. Maybe one day later upgrade. Also not too sure about your skimmer, that may be on the wish list also after you get things going, just do the necessary water changes to keep up. Can't wait to see it, post up some pictures when you get time!!

The only thing I might do with the lighting is add a 2 or 3 foot led fixture to the centre down the road the 2 that I have I think will be ok.

I know the skimmer is not the best going but it should do the job for now. I got it and the over flow for $100 Canadian so I can’t really complain.

Just waiting to see if the controller comes with temp and ph probes or not.

I also wanted to ask what you think would be the best way to decrease the flow on my return pump. I am going with the triton method but my overflow box is rated for 1500gph and the return pump is over 1700. Not too sure if the length of the pipe and the internal connections will slow it down enough or even at all.

Depends on the head height but should be ok on the pump, I would plumb in a ball valve and use that to reduce the flow some. Sounds like it will be fun to watch you get it set up and running, just take your time.

1. Need way more flow
2. Cant bond lexqn to glass
3. Overflow boxes suck
4. My reeflo wahoo return pump is huge and loud
