Well I kinda started 2 months ago, but more importantly I am ready to start enjoying some livestock. I send pictures of my setup once I get this pesky site working to my liking.

and a crap load of Xenia my friend gave me which is growing everywhere!

why do you have crushed coral?

no way fish store is way to expensive, its from chinatown
Also the crushed coral is to leech calcium and provide increased bacteria surface area.

crushed coral will naturally lower ph to 7.7-7.8 after 90days in saltwater.

if you're looking for a slightly better calcium leech + surface area, crushed oyster shell(the highest buffering substrate after 60-90days) only drops ph to 7.9, but i'd only do a tad, or you'll battle ph just for the reason of having substrate.

Ive never heard this one before. I have heard that a CC or an aragonite substrate will help to buffer Ph if it drops too low.
Could you elaborate and show some links to support this?
