So today I feel more comfortable using my tank after seeing a 700 Gallon tank made of 1/2 acrylic anda 135 Gallon tank made of 1/4" Acrylic.

Woo Hoo!!! Finally leak free (or close to it). I have been battleing a small drip pushing thru some threads on the outlet side of my Hammerhead pump. The only thing that worked was using some water activated fiberglass patch (EWARP for you Navy guys). Thank God. Return Pump, Closed Loop Pump 300w heater and UV Sterilizer have been running since 8:00pm last night. Temp is slowly creeping up because I only have one heater. Started at 54F and is now at 60F. Considering another heater today. Bowing looks ok and I guess will hold.

I have come to the conclusion that when I remove about 1/4 of the water to put in the salt, sand and rock that the missing displacement of water will lessen the pressure on the panels and reduce the bow slightly.

I am also debating about putting on my canopy because it is so heavy and I dont want to add more stress to the tank any more than nessesary. I was considering just building a cross shaped frame that runs across the top of the tank just to mount the MH's to it.
 
Canopy is Installed, Halides are running, salt is in, sand is in and waiting for water to clear of sand dust. Got 2 heaters running, Beckett skimmer is a workhorse pulling dust out. So far so good!
 
hey i just noticed that you have the air from the injection hooked up to you collection cup....when that cup fills up i will eliminate the air flowing in to the injector. i would just put the valve on the injector and just have the tube from the collection cup go to a container. i just bought a MRC-2 modded to a dual injected MRC-3 and thats how its set up


also when the filter sock get clogged and needs to be washed it will overflow and you will have a small flood in your stand....i speak from experience i always have mine lower in the sump for that reason or you can buy the drawstring type and tie it to the plumbing

Justin, The air line from the collection cup is intended to be there. Reason being is that there is a drain on the bottom of the collection cup which drains to a container. The air valve from the collection cup is higher and is intended to stop the air flow to the injector in case of the skimmer overflowing.

Mike... Not much to see besides cloudy water. I am waiting for it to clear still.
 
Looks good, but man in that vid it sounds so loud!! Might be time to get the spray foam out, lol

Cool video! :D. On your lights, I was told that arranging the reflectors like you have them in that last video was the wrong way. I was told they should be arranged perpendicular to the front of the tank and not parallel. So looking into your canopy, you would be looking at the bulb head on and not from the side. The theory behind it (or if it is fact) is that arranged perpendicular, the light is spread out to the sides so the lighting from one reflector will meet with the light coming from the next reflector which gives you more coverage. Maybe mojo can chime in on that to confirm, but I was told it was a no no to arrange that type of reflector the way you have it. Check it out first though. :)

If you need a picture to show you what I mean, let me know and I'll fetch one from one of my old tanks. :)

With that arrangement, the light rays cross one another leaving no dark areas. With them paralel like you have in the video, the light is spread to the front and back of the tank leaving a gap infront of and behind of the bulbs. Atleast that's what I was told which if you think about it, makes a bit of sense. Not sure how much more coverage you get this way, but figured I'd toss it out there. Mojo may be the one to fill us in a bit more on this. :)

Got it Krish, I still have to mount my Actinics and will change the Halide position when that time comes. How far away are your halides from your water? Mine seems to be as close as yours and my water temp is 80.5F!!!!! I got to get some fans installed. Don't have the cash for a chiller

I think they were 9 inches off of the water. I used 5 fans in that canopy. 3 sucking hot air out and 2 blowing in cool air across the water. I also put a fan over my sump. I was able to keep the temperature just right like this, but eventually, I wanted the extra piece of mind so I bought a chiller. 80.5 isn't bad. Once you can keep it stable without huge swings you are fine. :)
 
Sounds about right. My acrylic gets warm to the touch but not hot enough where I can't touch it so thats good. I have a huge fan blowing inside the canopy right now. I will be investing in canopy fans next along with a small fan for the stand and sump.

Cool man...I even went so far as removing that back off of my stand. The stand originally had an open back, but I closed it in to make it a bit neater in there to hide wiring etc. After the halides went in, I had to remove that backing. I used a big clip on fan to cool the sump LOL!! Evaporation shot up, but did help. I put everything on timers and I think my canopy fans stayed on an extra hour after the lights went off just to be sure all the heat was out of there. :)

Here's a shot of the canopy with the vents I used. Each vent you see had a fan behind it for a total of 5 up there.

And the red arrows point to all of the fans. These were all 12v fans that I used a regular radio shack ac/dc converter to run

Got 4 fans today and installed 2 as exhaust on top of canopy and 2 inside the stand as supply. Very quiet and move a good amount of CFM. I will find out tomorrow how it is working.

On the other hand, the 180 got its first occupant today (besides snails and a bristle worm). My old Blue Hippo Tang from my 100G.
