Got 4 fans today and installed 2 as exhaust on top of canopy and 2 inside the stand as supply. Very quiet and move a good amount of CFM. I will find out tomorrow how it is working.

On the other hand, the 180 got its first occupant today (besides snails and a bristle worm). My old Blue Hippo Tang from my 100G.

Nice!! Soon time for some more pics! :D

The tank is looking great! I'm looking forward to seeing some new pictures of the rock work and clear water. I really want to get a 180 gallon tank for an upgrade from my 90 I really need the extra room or I will have to start chopping up all my corals. it's going to have to wait though I want new skis and boots first lol.

Will my livestock be ok in 80F-81F water temp? I typically like to keep it around 76F-78F but between the Halides and Pumps I can't get it below 80F. I do have fans installed but doesn't seem to be doing much besides keeping the humidity down in the stand and canopy. I don't have money for a chiller either.

81 is a little hotter then I like to see, it just means you dont have to much wiggle room on the hot side. Up a couple of degrees and you will run into some issues. With out a chiller the only other real thing you have is a big fan pointed at the water in the sump or the display. This might help bring the temp down a bit.

I agree with Mike...81F isn't bad, just doesn't leave much room for any spikes in the upper range. The most important thing with temp though is stability. Sitting stable at 81F is much better than sitting at 76F and have a huge swing to 80F in a short amount of time then back down. Yo want stability more than anything. That sump fan I posted a picture of on the other page made a big difference just keep your eye on evaporation if you don't have an automatic top off system.

On a side note, your tank is the first tank that I've seen that has a tang in it that the tank looks too big for a tang

Like they said the temp will be ok for now but this summer you will have problems. I was forced to either get a chiller or an ac unit so I got an ac unit so we could enjoy it too and it works great. My temps this time of year are like 76 and in the summer around 79.

i would change the fans to 1 blow air in and the other pull air out and have the flow go across the the metal halides. same for the sump
