I am working on a 90 acrylic (polishing and replumbing). I did not want to hijack this thread (http://www.reeffrontiers.com/forums/f14/12g-24g-upgrade-cycle-63196/) When everything is ready I will transfer everything over from the 26. I have a 29 in the garage that is full of rock that has been running with heat, lights and a powerhead for a few months. What are the chances of no large cycles?

I am still getting the plumbing situated. As soon as I get that done I will start polishing. When I looked in the overflow at the returns it had some rusted metal hose clamps. My daughter started sking lessons again on saturdays so this is going to be a bit longer than I had hoped but it will get done soon. I bought a PVC threaded by slip fitting that I am going to see if I can rethread it at work to straight thread which will match the threads on the big bulkhead that goes to the sump. I have not found anyone locally that has 1-1/2 bulkheads.

Sounded like all your rock was cured and ready to go, you should be fine. hows the tank? lets see some pics!

What type of sand bed did you have in the other tank? Was it a deep sanded or shallow? Let is know. Also, on the rock, seeing it is coming from an established tank as well as a another tank that has been curing for some time you shouldn't experience that much of a cycle IMO. :)

Hmm... The reason I asked is because the worst part about messing with a sand bed is if you have a deep sand bed with an anaerobic zone. You disturb it and you are asking for trouble. To be safe you could either go with new sand and seed it with some of the sand from the top layer of your tank now or something similar. I hate messing with sand so I don't bother to use it so can't suggest a whole lot. :)

I will take the top inch or so when the time comes. Next question. My sump that is running in the gaeage has rock in it that has Aiptasia on it. I put three small Berghia in a month ago or so but have not seen any change. (Must not have made it). In the tower I have a bunch of rubble with the water running over it but it is not submerged. If I take the submerged rock out and do a freswater bath for a while and do a good clean job on the sump and pump will there be any issue with the rock in the tower? I am thinking that not being submerged that the Aiptasia will not be on it. I do not want to loose the bacteria.
