I am having Oceans By Design build me a new tank.
It's going to be 72" x 30" x 25". Same size as the one I have now.

2 sides are starfire glass.
It will have a external overflow box with three 1" drains.
The back panel with be drilled for a closed loop using a Reeflo Snapper/Dart Hybrid pump.
One 1-1/2" hole for suction and four 1" return holes.
There will also be a 1" bulkhead for the main sump return using a Eheim 1262.

Here some pictures of what's planned.

Looks good. Can't wait to see what it looks like once it's finished!

man i was down at oceans by design the other day looking at your tank. it looks heavy. not going to be fun to move this tank, but we will make it happen. when did they say it will be ready to move.

We are hoping for the 19th.

Suction cups should make it easier.

okay, why do we not have pics of this new tank yet. I know its pretty much done being made! :D

I was going up there yesterday to take some pictures, but ended up spending most of the day setting up a temporary tank to hold my fish.
Going to spend today setting up the holding tubs for the corals and rock, then maybe start pulling stuff out this week.
The Lori is scheduled to come next Saturday to pick up the old tank.
She is going to re-seal it and use it.

Yeah, I've always wanted to try the external box.

My current dual overflow boxes take up a huge amount of room.

I can see that. They've always worried me a bit just in the sense that if there is a problem with one in the tank, at least its IN the tank.. Although, I don't think I've ever really read about anyone having problems with them when they were installed by the builder.......

The internal overflows are one of the biggest reasons I look forward to upgrading. That and Starphire glass.

One of my bigger parts of this project is to get my sliding glass door taken out.

This tank is going to be more than 34" wide and with the slider taken out there is only 33".
I had a new stamped concrete patio put in a few years ago and when the step was put in, they ran the concrete up to and over the bottom door flange.
So I will have to cut the flange off somehow and break loose the silicone that I put down to seal it.

While the tank is only 25" tall, in theory we could spin the tank on it's side, hold such a heavy tank, only from the ends, and then spinning it back over isn't something I want to do, or ask anyone helping me.

I will feel better if we can just walk through a 6' wide opening.
