So I promised an larger update and here it is. So I collected a few items this weekend. So I took my daughter down to the Oregon coast and we met up with the guys at coldwater marine aquatics. It was a great weekend were we saw some awesome bio diversity and found some great specimens. In between collecting we hit the OSU Hatfield marine center. It had great coldwater exhibits and lots of interactive exhibits for Haydyn to entertain herself.
We found lots of nano stuff that was colorful and healthy. There is a 1/4' tide pool sculpin and a lime green sculpin. Hey are full to watch these tiny guys scoot around. A video wont be far away:)

Here is a different view.

A macro of the mini plumous colony and a red beadlet and aqua green beadlet, and some painted anemones

Tiny tiny california cucumber. juvenile color pattern. also note the yellow social tunicate in the middle.

more to come:)

Just another pic showing the pico sized fish:)

Very COOL lil tank in person, just like having your own personal Tidepool on your office desk. For those fortunate enough to live close by Puget Sound or the Coast a simple task of collecting a bucket of fresh saltwater every so often.

Cheers, Todd

Thanks for bringing some by Todd. It was great having you over and was great talking about reefs of all size and temperatures:)

I saw this today and thought it was pretty cool. I have my orange Metridium Senile baby's setting up shop on the side of the green surf nem.

I like the idea, but I've had personally and seen from others that spray foam break/crack/unseal after a few months. Usually happens when just part of it becomes unsubmerged. Good luck.

If you use regular spray foam insulation or gap filler you will have those problems.

If you use the landscape spray foam that is designed as an adhesive and has a UV inhibitor in it you will not have those problems.

I have had the same foam wall in my lobster tank with zero issues in over 8 months. That is only attached around the edges and is a massive piece that has way more nuance problems. I've heard of problems also with other spray foams. But the stuff used for waterfalls an pond applications have proved to be very effective
