ABS Piping

I've heard good and bad things about using abs piping in a reef setup is this still true or should i replace my drains with pvc?

The main reason hobbyist don't use abs in their setups is because it's not pressure rated. Since you're using it for drains it shouldn't be a problem. Is it noisy though ?

Yea its just for my two drains on my overflows, its not to bad, i'm going to wrap my elbows up in some foam to help with the noise.

Shhh. Not so loud. My tank doesn't know that ABS isn't reef safe, so it's been running fine with the stuff for years.

My overflow system is built out of ABS. If you were to check out the bulkheads that many of us use - a lot of them are ABS.

I read some were on a different forum, that the pressure rating for the ABS far exceeds what we run in our aquariums.

My understanding is that ABS is generally rated for about 100psi and that even with the biggest return pumps, we generally don't get much over 15psi.
